Description

This Daimler SP250 is a ‘C’ specification. This was the final revision to the model which had a reserve petrol unit a trickle charge battery socket and a cigar lighter. It was first registered in March 1964.

I bought it from Robert Grinter Restorations and have their report of the car required for insurance purposes and an official statement from Laurence Jones the SP250 Historian & Archivist which notes the comments made by Quintin Wilson, when he saw it, thought it was one of the most original SP’s he had seen.
Purchased in November 2020 whilst Robert Grinter was working on its latest restoration upgrades, all detailed with the many documents, MOT certs and the original green registration book plus receipts of work and servicing done. The car had covered 22, 000 miles from new when Robert Grinter bought it. This milage has been verified as correct from talking to members of the SP250 Owners Club who have known this car for many years and seen it at club rallies. In the 4 ½ years I have owned the milage is now 26, 000.
Upgrades at the time of purchase included a repaint as the original (Mountain Blue), Austin Healey 3000 clutch and clutch hydraulics. The engine ancillaries have been rebuilt including the fuel system and cooling and ignition parts. It has been fitted with new Wilton carpets and repadded front seats.

Since owning it the rear suspension has had new leaf springs and the Robert Grinter gas filed telescopic suspension modification kit fitted replacing the Armstrong lever arm dampers and a re-cored water radiator.

It has just had a service and MOT done by Robert Grinter Restorations, the reason for selling is my aging complaints and now believe it is time for a new owner to enjoy it and look after it.

There is available: a tool role with the full compliment of tools issued with a new SP250; an original maroon hard back owner’s handbook; an original full service and maintenance manual together with a copy for use in the garage. Also, a trolly car jack and standard wheel changing jack issued with each new car and an original AA badge mounted on the radiator grill.

The price to be fair and realistic after consulting Robert Grinter and Laurence Jones is £32, 500
