Welcome to the sale of my rare MX5 MK1 RS Eunos Limited Edition, 1 of only 500 models made and widely regarded as being the best and highest spec available. This is a 100% complete and original car which rarely comes up for sale in such excellent condition. Long MOT till June 2025 (no advisories), it also has an exceptionally clean past MOT history with no rust concerns or any major issues arising. Just one former owner before my personal ownership since 2022. The car is low mileage at 73k (or 117km), with no expense being spared during its ownership. Huge folders of receipts and service history available. Offered for sale due to current house move.
The interior is in fantastic condition with genuine Recaro RZ Carbon Kevlar RZ seats. These seats are highly sought after by enthusiasts and often got removed from these car to be sold separately (in the (£5-£7k range). Blue ‘Roadster’ Limited Edition floor mats, along with the black leather 3-spoke Nardi steering wheel and gear knob. Stainless steel ‘Roadster’ sill plates, electric door windows, a high-end Kenwood digital stereo system fitted plus additional internal bracing behind seats.
Exterior of the car presents very well with the original lightweight 15-inch BBS alloy wheels. Just had 4 brand new Toyo Proxes TR1 tyres fitted in June 2024. The soft top roof is in perfect condition plus has a fold down zip plastic window. Factory red ‘RS’ decal is present on the front passenger side-wing; a new OEM electric aerial was fitted 1-year ago as the old was a bit sticky. Both electric wing mirrors fully adjustable and working perfect.
The engine bay is immaculate, a full service was done prior to its latest MOT (plugs, air/ oil filters, oil change, fuel filter, coolant). The cambelt and water-pump were replaced in Feb’24. Yellow front tower-brace fitted. From factory the car had a lightened flywheel and lower higher 4:3 final drive ratios for improved acceleration. Having owned and driven several other MK1s, this car’s performance is significantly better and it feels special.
Bodywork of the car is in excellent for its age. The Montego Blue Mica paintwork is deep, this two-tone paint changes in the light from dark blue to green shades. There is no rust or corrosion anywhere on the sills or arches. The factory spot-welds are still present on the rear inside arches. If I am being very picky, there are a couple of very minor stone dents on the bonnet, these are difficult to photograph and only show in certain lighting conditions. I’ve been quoted £80 by a mobile Paintless Dent Removal company to make perfect.
In the boot of the car all original bits to be expected are present, including the factory toolkit, jack and spare tyre. A new genuine Panasonic Gel battery was fitted 2yrs ago. Another rare item included is the ‘spare wheel storage’ tray only found on certain JDM models, along with the original BBS wheel cap spanner. Lots of paperwork comes with the car, V5 logbook in-hand plus original Japanese Owners pack from import.
The matching colour-coded hardtop (with heated window) is available for sale separately. I also have a set of the very rare RS Limited Factory Option side-skirts if the new buyer is interested in these. This option was only fitted to a handful of RS Limited models that left the factory and I’ve never come across another set for sale anywhere.
In summary, it is extremely rare to find a complete and original RS Limited model for sale. A chance for any enthusiast to enjoy this fantastic car or add to their collection. Both the last owner and myself are MX5-owner club members, so any new buyer can be assured this car has been carefully looked after. This is a very special and rare example of the MX5 MK1 which are becoming increasingly collectible.
