Description
1969 Elan +2, originally registered in Coventry in the February of that year.
I have owned since 2001, having purchased it privately in Somerset. During my ownership it has been sympathetically refurbished including a respray in the original Carnival Red in 2003. The front seats are re-upholstered in black with red piping. It has a new perforated White headlining. Many new parts during my ownership, including Rear Shock absorber inserts, front brake discs, driveshaft donuts, new wooden dashboard, new dash top. Mechanically it has had the water pump overhauled, new crankshaft bearings and piston rings, replacement adjustable Stromberg Carburettors. Recent new radiator overhaul. Replacement steering rack and new lower trunnions. Many other items have been replaced.
Large history file including many receipts, the V5 shows it as a 5 previous owner car.
The car runs and drives but will need some recommissioning as it has been used sparingly over the last few years. I would recommend that it should be trailered away.
It is fitted with the rare Revolution Knock On Alloy Wheels. It has the original Lotus Chassis.
It is not been refurbished as a show car but as a useable example of a 55 year old English sports car. It has still got age related patina including bumpers and original brightwork. It requires a new carpet set and the tyres are 20+ years old. When i purchased the car it had been living in Somerset for several years, and although sound it was in need of quite a bit of love. I was using the car on a weekly basis to commute to work prior to moving to Devon. My reasons for selling are that i rarely use the car, due to also having a newer M100 Elan and feel it could be a nice classic for someone else to continue enjoying the car as i have.
I have priced the car competitively as many Elan +2 models are now being advertised for well over £20, 000
