Description
Up for sale is my Jan 1996 BMW 840CI HPI clear in very good condition. This beauty was on my bucket list for a long time as I am a classic car fanatic and as BMWs go this is by far one of the best looking machines especially in this sought after colour and interior combination, this machine was way far ahead of its time when it was first produced in terms of just looks and engineering. When I started looking around for one of these I wanted an honest and low mileage example so when I came across this one I had to buy it.
When I bought this E31 it had been sat for a while and was in need of some TLC. So I got it serviced and running as it should, also because the paint work/ lacker had faded in some areas and it also had some scratches on both bumpers and around some body panels I decided to get it resprayed as you can see in the pictures. I also had the roof liner professionally redone as it was sagging in some areas this is a common issue with these cars but its all sorted now and looking like new. I also had the rare and as I came to find out very expensive alloy wheels refurbished.
This 840 comes with all the tech you would expect for 1996 such as sports steering wheel, full electrics, sunroof, AC, a full leather interior, stereo system with CD changer in the boot, full original tool kit etc etc. I have some paperwork and the service history book with services confirming its mileage is correct and I have also checked this on the DVLA database.
All issues that had been raised at the last MOT was the underbody surface rust etc, I have also had this sorted and the car has now been treated and undersealed to prevent this from happening again or getting worse.
Things to note
Since I had all this done I have only driven it a couple of times and it has just been sitting in my garage most of the time, the stereo lights have since become temperamental and a warning has appeared a couple of times about the rear lights but these are working correctly, I have been told that this may be because the batteries will need a full charge or it could just be an earthing issue.
I have put on the Michelin tyres that came with the wheels but to be honest I think these should be replaced as they just look a bit tired, you can still used them but just being honest because if I was buying it I would like to know as much detail as possible.
MOT run out but I am happy to put new one on for the new buyer just haven’t done this because it’s currently on SORN.
Summary
This was a dream car of mine and although there's still a couple little things she needs looking at she is just asking to be driven and too be honest I am not doing that as much as I had wished which combined with the fact that I have embarked on a new house project I really need to let her go to a new home. Comes with a private reg. I have probably spent more money on this baby than I will make back as all classic car stories go and therefore I will be opened to sensible offers but if it doesn't sell at all I will try somehow find another a way to keep it!
Any questions please just ask!
