Description
This is my Volvo V90 Estate from 1997.
I have had the car for 10 years, and it has been completely reliable, strong, comfortable, quite fast, and a fantastic workhorse. I have driven it all over the UK and Europe, often loaded with all my fishing gear. I have owned many cars, and this is the best of them.
There were 3 previous owners before me.
It breaks my heart to sell it, but I believe it has developed a blown head gasket or even possibly a hairline crack in the head, and I am now too old, and do not have the motivation, time, or money to sort it out.
I have been unable to start the car for the last couple of months, and so be aware -- the car will have to be trailered away or on the back of a recovery vehicle. At present, the car does not start or run.
Here are the details for the car:
-- It is the 6-cylinder, 3 litre, 24-valve, 204bhp engine (B6304S).
-- Full Volvo dealer/ specialist service history with fully stamped service book, and all MOTs since 2000. I have every invoice detailing all work carried out since I bought the car 10 years ago.
-- Current mileage is just under 173, 000 miles.
-- Cambelt changed 30, 000 miles ago
-- New 16-inch alloys bought 4 years ago.
-- All four tyres are Dunlops. The rears have done about 15000 miles but have about 3mm tread left. The fronts have only been on for 5000 miles and have loads of tread left.
-- ALL the electrics work exactly as they should, including the adjustable headlights and the tilt/ slide sunroof, and the seat adjusters and the heated seats (and the memory).
-- The external temperature indicator on the dash has "blacked-out" (they all do that Sir).
-- The carpets are in excellent condition. So are the Volvo overmats. The drivers overmat is a little worn (see photo).
-- The door cards are excellent -- no wrinkles or warping on any of the doors.
-- The seats are excellent, except the drivers seat which has a small tear (see photo).
-- The stereo is a refurbished original Volvo (Alpine) unit from Germany 3 years ago with LED lighting instead of the original bulbs. Everything works and it is better than new to be honest. (I have the invoice for it).
-- The headlamps are in excellent order and the electrical adjustment works as it should.
-- The body panels are all original and in pretty good shape and have never been repaired or resprayed. There is a fair dent in the drivers door (wife hit a bollard). The lacquer is lifting off the bonnet and the passenger front wing.
-- There is some rust bubbling around one of the roof-rail fitments on the roof (see photo).
-- The underside of the car is all original and there is no structural rust.
-- The running gear has surface rust but nothing serious.
-- The headlining is not sagging at all and is pretty good condition, but with a few marks.
-- I had a stainless steel exhaust fitted from the catalyser back, in Feb 2022 (I have the invoice).
-- I can also provide a 700-page Volvo workshop manual in PDF form with the car.
If the car doesnt sell I will have to break it down and sell the parts on EBAY. But I would much prefer to sell it as it is to someone who wants to repair and restore it, or to use it as a donor for another restoration project. If you have ever had one of these cars, you will know they are truly superb things.
