Description.
The car, called the 201, is said to be Peugeot's first car with the three-digit naming convention (with a "0" as the second digit), which is still used today. The 201 was also the first Peugeot to be delivered with a partly steel body.
We are pleased to offer you this fantastic opportunity to complete the restoration of one of these cars, a project 201 started by the previous owner. All steel parts have already undergone restoration work, which provides a solid basis for further reconstruction. For those with the skills to build their own interior parts by hand, this could be a fantastic project to undertake. But the Elektra also offers plenty of challenges.
History and documentation
• Although the seller is unsure of the exact year of manufacture of this example, the Peugeot 201 was made in Sochaux between July 1929 and September 1937
• The restoration project has started, but obviously still needs to be completed. The electrical needs attention and the upholstery needs care.
• Currently the car is not registered - No registration document or technical certificate
• Chassis plate with number available
• The old Dutch license plate is present.
Condition
• The chassis has been restored and appears to be in very good condition
• The bodywork is complete and needs some restorations.
• The radiator appears to be in good condition for its age
• The wheels appear to have been restored and 5 new tires have been fitted, allowing the project to proceed smoothly.
Mechanical
• The axles and suspension appear to have been restored to a good standard
• The 695 cubic centimeter four-cylinder engine has been restored and appears to have run after the restoration.
