Description

This is a restored, rare and unique opportunity to acquire this GT6 sports car, very enjoyable to drive with an open top.

Has been entered into classic events including the Kop Hill climb with excellent performance.

A Triumph GT6 MK3 1972 (tax exempt) with Spitfire soft top stored in dry garage.

This is a Rotoflex GT6, see manufacture letter as GT6

1998 cc engine with rebuilt SU HS6 carbs, oil cooler, new parts (ignition and fuel supply). New battery and starter motor. Larger radiator. Triumph tune rocker cover.

Brake servo, good tyres, roll bar, stainless exhaust.

Chassis solid and in good condition underneath. All panels solid with fibreglass bonnet.
Recent works from 2015:
Installed radiator vanes to duct air intake
New twin horns, plugs, battery, rear brake shoes and slaves
Radiator fan management system and new relay
Coolant pipework improvements
New thermostat and radiator cap
One Rotoflex doughnut suspension replaced
New voltage stabiliser
New head gasket, skimmed head, fan belt, choke, unleaded valves, and rear core plug
Floor well mats
Painted bottom body panels and boot.
New hood handle and escutcheon
New hazard light switch, off side light and flasher unit
Retuned valve clearances and timing
Overhauled water pump
Side lights electrical to be resolved nextI bought this car for its classic heritage as an enjoyable restoration project plus taking it to events and driving the country roads with a top down.
This is a British Triumph six cylinder sports coupe much developed from the MK2 version. As a prelude, 'works' Spitfires with GT6-style bodies raced at Le Mans in 1964 and 1965, From late 1970 the GT6 Mk3 took over, this sharing many styling changes with the latest Spitfire, the Mk IV. Although this was basically the same shape as before, almost every external panel was changed and was more smoothly detailed than before. Perhaps this was aerodynamically smoother than before, for the car's top speed rose to 112mph
