Description

A very rare, desirable & unmolested example of one of the finest 911s ever made!

* Brown Copper Diamond Metallic (443-9-3/ Z6Z6)
* Certificate of Authenticity, matching numbers
* Extremely low mileage & lots of history
* Completed 24 Jan 1977, registered 31 Mar 1977
* Delivered new to Hong Kong when it was a British Overseas Territory (UK-spec vehicle) and came to the UK with her first owner in 1979
* In 47 years, just 5 x prior UK owners & 1 in Norway, where she hibernated for 10 years+!

I write this with a tear in my eye as this is one of only two cars I said I'd never sell, even when I was offered mega money just a week after buying her in Feb 2017, yet here I am as it's time to upsize my home.

A couple of important points right from the outset so anyone reading knows what this is - or what it isn't - as it's very important:

This isn’t one of 58, 000 911 SCs or 76, 500 3. 2 Carreras that were made, but one of just 3, 687 Carrera 3. 0s ever produced. Of this, 2, 564 were coupes and only 575 were RHD. In fact, it is believed that there are only 150-200 RHD coupes in original format left on the planet! This is one rare baby.

Secondly, many still going in original guise are high mileage restored examples. There's nothing wrong with that - some people love a completely modernised version of something old - but a lot of a vehicle's spirit & identity is lost through restoration. This a true hero that has stood the test of time; aside a fresh coat of original colour paint - which most 47-year-olds will have needed or are still needing - and the replacement of failed parts, she is as she came out of the factory!

I've owned her since early 2017 and have spent nearly £10, 000 in that time making sure she (as a driver's car, not a show pony) is as perfect as can be. New brakes & tyres all around, voltage regulator, coil, sun visors, ignition starter switch, security kill switch, sunroof guides, electric aerial, omega spring, floor mats, wiper contact, suspension, injectors, you name it. Original almost unmarked interior; no wear to the upholstery, not even to the driver's seat bolster. The carpet is like the day it was fitted over 47 years ago. The wonderful bigger 16" Fuchs from the 'sport' variant that she is, with a factory rear tail delete, thank goodness. In ~10, 000 miles under my ownership, the only time she had a running issue was due simply to a faulty voltage regulator that was cooking coils and this was sorted years ago. Last serviced under 1, 000 miles ago in Sep 2023.

Zero rust, zero rot, not even in the kidney bowls, on the scuttles or floor. Anything that there was (and it was minimal) was dealt with by Terry from Justin's Restorations. I don't think there's a better Porsche advocate than him, having built multiple RS varieties, one of which sold for well over £1m with DK Engineering. He even built cars for Eric Clapton & James Hunt!

The electric windows, sunroof and driver's mirror all work perfectly. The heat exchangers are magnificent and provide bundles of warm cabin air when needed. Being a 1977 model, you get a few upgrades over a 1976 one, such as extra cabin vents, a brake booster, an omega spring for lighter clutch work and a new 'twist' door locking mechanism to make the car harder to break into. Enthusiasts say the 1977 model feels like a huge upgrade to the 1976 variant, hence the '77 is the one that is far more desired.

2 x keys, lots of service records, tax discs, original logbook and I will supply a brand new Porsche tool kit for the next owner as mine was stolen by a garage! The original Blaupunkt stereo will also be supplied.

I can't insert hyperlinks, but for some great C3. 0 reading, so please Google:

1. "Carrera 3. 0 Elferspot Buyer's Guide"
2. "Petrolicious putting a Porsche Carrera 3. 0 to the test against its more popular siblings"
3. "Stuttcars Porsche 911 Carrera 3. 0 1976-1977"

"I think the Carrera 3. 0 is probably the most overlooked and underrated of them all, seeing as it was produced for a very short period between 1976 and 1977, and only offered outside of the States" - Naveed Yousafzai, Petrolicious. com, 2020.

Some final facts for thought:

- Hans Mezger, the Porsche legend who designed the flat 6, had a Carrera 3. 0 in his small collection as he loved it so much!

- The claimed 0-60mph figure of 6. 5 seconds is underestimated in true German style. You can knock almost a full second off that in reality!

- All Carrera 3. 0s have ‘periscope’ headlight washers on the front bumper and five-blade cooling fans. If you see one without the periscopes or with an 11-blade fan, it’s more than likely an SC pretending to be a C3!

Please don't hesitate with any questions. FYI, the price is without the private plate, unless the buyer wants to purchase it for a fair price to be agreed. Bear in mind this is an R-reg '77 vehicle and that the new 911R is a £400k+ car nowadays!
