Description
This lovely 1981 Yellow 3. 0 S Ford Capri is available and looking for a new home, letting you own a piece of history and enjoy a usable turn key classic car.
The car comes complete with factory option metal sunroof and remote drivers door mirror.
Now having passed the 40 year timeline puts it in the historic category so tax and MOT exempt although does have a long mot history back 18 years with the last expiring in 2023
Given that it is a 43 year old car Its an easy drive with power steering, smooth clutch and the user friendly V6 Engine.
Inside as you'd expect from a Fast Ford it has the mesh head rest's, metal 3 spoke steering wheel and Carla check seat cloth. A reproduction parcel shelf is fitted but the original is still with the car and the drivers seat has some wear to the outer bolsters but as the fabric is currently unavailable I'd rather not use other Ford seats or the wrong material like others have.
Outside the Canary yellow bodywork shines with the trade mark 3. 0 S lower car logos in black and refurbished Ford RS four spoke alloys with Dunlop Sport tyres.
Underneath having been subject to a gentle restoration over the last few years to keep it rust free and on the road, it has had both rear inner sills, jacking points, metal mud shields and repairs to headlight frames / front wings (a common Capri area). Steam cleaned and undersealed to protect it for the future.
Engine starts with out trouble or smoke and pulls cleaning shifting through the 4 speed manual is easy and without noise.
The rumble off the twin period cherry bomb exhausts and 3 branch manifolds only adds to the driving experience and takes you straight back to the early 80's
Following the successful Professionals TV series from the late 70s the show projected the Mk3 3. 0 S into the lime light making it quite desirable and an important model within the Ford range of that time.
The 3 litre Essex V6 combined solid build quality with perky performance. giving the 3. 0S a top speed of 122mph and 0-60mph in only 8. 5 seconds, which was in 1978, the performance normally associated with more expensive cars.
