Description

Very rare factory 4x4 2005 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 313cdi MWB. This van uses the entirely mechanical 4×4 system which is bulletproof. It is run in 2wd (RWD) for road driving, with selectable 4wd and low range. This Sprinter is made even more rare by the addition of the factory rear locking differential, this was an optionable add-on when bought new so is not found on every Sprinter 4×4. With this rear locker the van will go anywhere, I have taken it off road and it has been able to keep up with Land Rovers.

We have part service history up to 2021, and all receipts and invoices for work done in our 3 year ownership, most of which has been done by our local 4×4 specialist. Whilst we have owned it, it has never wanted for anything and always had any work it needed carried out. We have recently (March 2024) spent £1000+ making sure it is absolutely sound, including:
– both sills welded - chassis is absolutely solid
– new front CV joint
– new exhaust
– new handbrake shoes
– new clutch
– new gear linkages (common issue on these Sprinters)
– 5 brand new Kumho Road Venture all-terrain tyres (correctly load rated for this van, and also less than 50 miles travelled on these)
– MOT, next one due on 28/ 02/ 2025

It has also had:
– new wheel bearing (March 2023)
– new front brake discs and pads (March 2023)
– new power steering rack (May 2022)
– new starter motor (Feburary 2022)

We painted the van ourselves in satin finish anthracite grey. It does have a few off-road related scuffs, but no body damage.

The van does have air conditioning but it doesn’t currently work, this has never bothered us.

Reverse camera installed above number plate, connected to the radio, comes on automatically when the van is put into reverse. We have owned this van for 3 years and lovingly converted it ourselves from a bare panel van to a four belted seat, two berth camper complete with diesel heater, fridge, two burner hob, sink, underslung fresh water, waste water and LPG tanks and lots of storage.

The van currently weighs 3. 0 tonnes so plenty of payload left over. (We have the weighbridge slip to verify this.)

The Cab:
– Two captains chairs
– FASP Swivel Base installed on passenger seat
– FASP Swivel Base for drivers seat included in sale, not currently installed
– Cup holders added in dashboard and on passenger B pillar
– Single DIN Pioneer AVH-Z7200DAB fold out touchscreen radio, connects via USB to run Android Auto or Apple Carplay and supports hands free calling
– Upgraded JVC speaker kit
– VanX double lined cab curtain behind front seats, great for privacy and insulating the living area

The ‘Living Room’ area:
– L shaped sofa, pulls out to make a small double bed (120cm x 190cm)
– Plenty of storage under seat bases for camping chairs, blow up kayaks, bedding, tools etc
– Diesel heater, leisure battery, fuse boxes all housed under seat bases too
– The middle section of the sofa bed is completely removable to create leg space for the rear belted seats, the storage in this section fits a double duvet and two pillows in perfectly
– Rear 3-point passenger seatbelt frame - securely bolted to the chassis
– VanX double lined curtains on both windows
– MaxxAir Deluxe fan with integrated shade installed over the sofa/ bed
– USB charger sockets and diesel heater control easily accessible from sofa/ bed
– 12v socket and carbon monoxide alarm installed on the base of the sofa, as well as the diesel heater outlet
– Storage cupboards opposite the sofa, acts as bedside table when in bed mode, these are deceptively large cupboards.

The ‘Kitchen’ area:
– Thetford Topline 922 two burner hob running off the 16L underslung LPG tank, with electric ignition
– Small farmhouse style sink with flexible tap, cold water feed only, but it is a mixer tap so it would be possible to add a hot water feed without much modification
– Tap can be swapped to shower head for outdoor shower at the back door, the shower head has its own valve on it to avoid getting the interior of the van wet and conserve water. Shower head works with door open 90 degrees for increased privacy or full 270 degrees for more showering space
– Soap dispenser pump next to sink
– Two overhead cupboards with down lighting and extractor fan over hob
– 6 x kitchen drawers, plenty of room for cutlery, crockery, food, herbs and spices, pots & pans, etc
– Bottom cupboard as access to plumbing services including Shurflo 30psi water pump, filter and accumulator
– All plumbing uses 12mm John Guest push fit connectors and pipe
– Dometic CRX50 fridge with freezer compartment, easily fits a weeks worth of food
– Level sensors for underslung water and gas tanks
– Floor to ceiling storage opposite the kitchen, plenty of room for clothes/ dry food
– Hanging cupboard for coats/ jackets, and a small bin cupboard too
– Thetford PortaPotti 365 toilet in bottom cupboard, largest capacilty non-permanent toilet that Thetford make; can be used in the van or an external shower tent
– Cushion cover over toilet improves the look so it can be used as comfortable seat elsewhere in the van, e. g. at the kitchen or next to sofa
– Gas and water fill points on the end of the kitchen unit, installed internally to minimise cutting into the side of the van and to try to preserve the ‘stealth’ look

Other:
– 220 AmpH AGM leisure battery, charges via Victron Orion-TR 30 amp non-isolated DC/ DC charger under drivers seat. This can last 3-4 days when parked up with typical use of all appliances, we tended to drive every day or two so battery was kept topped up
– 32 litre fresh & 32 litre waste water tanks underslung, with accessible draindown valves
– 5KW Vevor Diesel heater plumbed into van fuel tank with a cut off at the 1/ 4 tank mark, so it won’t drain and leave you without fuel to drive
– There is a 230V hookup socket externally behind the driver’s door which is currently not connected up but ready to be wired in if desired
– 12v lighting throughout, separate circuits for living and kitchen areas
– Outdoor porch light above the sliding door

The interior of the van has been left in its raw wood state, so would be perfect for the next owner to personalise it with paint or stain. Or it can be left how it is for a natural look.

The van is listed elsewhere so we reserve the right to remove this listing at any time.

Genuine reason for sale - new campervan project.

We are very sad to see the van go, but we are sure it will serve it’s next owner well.

We are open to sensible offers, please feel free to give me a call if you have any questions.
