I was contacted by a mutual friend who knew I was looking for a Ténéré, I then purchased the project already dismantled and in boxes.
I have been looking to get a Ténéré for some time since I have owned a1982 XT550 for a few years and developed a passion for the whole XT series, so the 1VJ being one of the most iconic XTs has been top of my list. The personality of a Yamaha big single is addictive, the power delivery and low down torque is great fun on and off road. The fuel delivery is staged with a dual slide and CV carb allowing for fuel economy when cursing or full throttle activating both sides of the carb for fast acceleration, perfect if you just want to nip to the shops or go round the world.
