Description

This Triple white Karmann Beetle is rare and hard to come by. Added to this are some unique features the car came with when it was imported from Florida.

What I’ve done
 • Fitted new floor-pans and after 2, 000 miles a new Fuel injection engine, new hood and cover.
 • I’ve also replaced new rubbers and exhaust and fitted new chrome running boards.
 • I purchased the personalised number plate BUG 79T.
 • Just to flag all these unique features means it isn’t concours condition.

Where I’ve been
 • I’ve attended events as a member of the Beetle Cabrio club including the International club event in Davos, Switzerland.
 • Exhibited for 5 years at the Chris Evans CarFest South event.
 • Used around three times a year for the VDub Brides wedding site.
My claim to fame is that I took Rowan Williams (Archbishop of Canterbury) daughter to her wedding.

After 20 years of pleasure I’ve decided to sell this very rare car.

If the buyer wants to remove the stripes, steering wheel etc. and take it back to the original Triple White I would be happy to accept £23, 000 and leave a good margin for the new owner to make these changes. I have kept various original items including door ashtrays, white seat belts etc.

Just to flag that the last Triple White advertised on this site had a price of £48, 000 although I appreciate it only had 580 miles on the clock and was in mint condition. Some history
 • Less than 900 Triple White Beetles were built for the VW USA dealers – only one was allocated to each VW dealer.
 • Less than a handful were available for VW dealers in Europe.
 • Date of production 18 October 1979 (T Reg) and originally delivered to a VW dealer in Jacksonville USA.
 • Hayley 1 arrived from Florida in 1999 with 71, 000 miles on the clock and the distinctive sprayed stripes, and then sat on a private drive for nearly two years.
 • I bought the car to discover no import tax had been paid and the import freight company had ceased trading.
 • I also found a leaky Fuel injected engine, salty floor-pans (surfers car?), no radio, and a spliff in the back ashtray.
 • All the registration and import documents can be found in the picture file.
