Description

My husband and I traded as Lower Barn Classic Cars Ltd. for 19 years, but unfortunately my husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease 6 years ago and we ceased trading in January 2019. We had bought this MGB in 1970, but although we had it painted, it was never completed ready for sale.
We kept the car after the business closed down, thinking that my husband might work on it as a hobby, but he was unable to do so, and the work needed was finally completed by local garages. It passed the MOT in May 2022, and now has a fresh MOT to May 2025, with no advisories. We have only used it a few times over the past two years, as my husband can no longer drive, and advancing years and arthritic knees make it difficult for me.
The car is in generally very good condition, and has been much admired. Engine and overdrive gearbox are good, and it drives very well.
The paintwork is very good with only a very few minor chips and blemishes. The chrome bumpers are in excellent condition and it has painted wire wheels with chrome spinners.
123 Electronic ignition was fitted in 2020 and a new fuel tank and sender unit fitted in 2022.
There is a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and the black leather seats, piped in red, are in excellent condition.
There are no keys for the door locks, though there are keys for the glovebox, boot and fuel cap. The car has a packaway hood in good condition.
There are a number of old MOT certificates and some history.
It has an MGOC agreed valuation certificate of £11, 000.
The registration WON 38J has been valued at £800, but as I believe it may be the original registration, and is age-related, I am reluctant to remove it from the car. This car looks great, drives well, and is ready for someone to enjoy straight away.
