A rare and iconic early Series One Land Rover — the 1762nd built, featuring the sought-after silver-painted chassis unique to the earliest production vehicles. This historically significant Land Rover has undergone an extensive, 4-year nut-and-bolt restoration, completed in June 2021 by a leading Norfolk-based marque specialist, with the goal of preserving originality wherever possible.

Provenance
Originally purchased new in January 1949 from Mann Egerton, Norwich, it spent its working life on a Norfolk farm, remaining in the region until rediscovered in 2017 — still in remarkably original condition and believed to have never left Norfolk in its 70+ year life.

Restoration Highlights
- Original chassis, professionally restored
- Original body panels left untouched – retaining 73 years of genuine patina
- Original bulkhead, extensively repaired and painted for preservation
- Professionally rebuilt 1. 6L engine (core plug type, c. 1950) – still running in
- Rebuilt gearbox (ring-pull freewheel type)

- Hydrostatic brakes with cast iron wheel cylinders fully refurbished

Original dated components restored:

- 1948 radiator (now re-cored)
- Ultra-rare 2-spoke sprung steering wheel refurbished
- All four original narrow leaf springs restored
- Original 27-hole grille and panel badge present
- Correct JLR replacement wheel rims with Avon Traction Mileage tyres
- High-quality Undercover Covers hood with dual letterbox aperture
- New wiring loom and period-correct 12V rubber battery
- New seats, professionally upholstered
