Description
888 Astra Coupe Chassis Number 1 of just 11 made. Formerly an Egg car now in 888/ VXR colours following a full nut and bolt restoration to the Sodemo/ AP/ Xtrac drivetrain and bare shell rejig and respray.
Drivetrain - fully rebuilt to zero hours using all period parts e. g steel small bearing crankshaft, forged long con rods, forged low compression height pistons, new valves, springs and retainers. Original cam profiles to Sodemo/ TOCA lift and period solid lifters. 5" flywheel, new carbon/ carbon AP clutch and hydraulic release bearing. Xtrac plate LSD reworked and shimmed to specified slip torque. New injectors into Sodemo carbon fibre airbox and runners. New engine loom and COP coils. Fully baffled sump.
Electrics and electronics use original EFi TOCA Euro6 fitted new battery and sequential injection and ignition. Dash is D2 complete with downloadable logger for engine and track peformance analysis. Dash display is page up and page down from steering wheel switch. 888 centre switch panel for lights, LP and HP pumps etc. Reworked fuel tank to allow for simpler fill and empty procedures
Brakes - new TOCA/ AP 6 pot fronts, 2 pot rears operated via a new AP pedal box with driver operated adjustable front/ rear brake bias. Power steering is 888 quick rack with adjustable pressure/ assistance. Brake cooling ducts. Aeroquip throughout. New driveshafts and CV joints
Suspension - New 888 hubs and uprights. 3 way adjustable Penske 8760 dampers fully rebuilt and dyno'd. Eibach road springs and helpers. ARB with adjustable tension. Camber and bump steer- adjustable suspension/ steering.
Wheels - Team Dynamics centre lock, peg drive 9"x 17" fitted Dunlop 235-610 tyres (A little dated, now can use Goodyear of same dimensions and as Mini Challenge)
Summary - A fully rebuilt piece of arguably unrivalled BTCC history and is one of only 6 still surviving Europe/ World wide
