Description
This vehicle is 1 or 7095 supplied to the War Department from 1951 to 1955. There were 4 main body variants, all utilising the same chassis cab design. These were Cargo, Welding, Dry Air Charging and 200 Water Tanker.
SSK 994 was original built as a water tanker. The cost of the chassis cab to the War Department was £897 10S 2D. The water tank and associated equipment added a further £400.
A large proportion of the lorries were built and put straight into storage and later used oversees in the Suez crisis.
SSK 994 was decommissioned in 1974 and was purchased by an unknown private buyer who subsequently sold the water tank off the back and used the vehicle for towing a boat to and from its mooring.
In 1986 SSK 994 was sold to Crook Brothers in Preston in part exchange for a smaller 4x4 Landrover.
