TRIUMPH GT6 mk3 1973 in Mimosa Yellow
850 miles since complete rebuild
ENGINE – 2500cc
Completely stripped down to engine block, all core plugs removed and block cleaned out by hand and compressed air, all sand and sludge deposits removed.
Bores honed, new piston rings, all bearings checked, thrust bearing replaced to give correct tolerance, new core plugs, uprated timing gears and chain, uprated oil pump, fast road cam, new water pump, Racetorations aluminium engine oil sump.
Cylinder head skimmed and rebuilt. Valves, inserts, seals, valve springs, rockers, push rods, rockers and rocker shaft all renewed. All parts supplied new by Chris Witor.
Exhaust is straight through 2. 5 inch stainless steel with Cherry Bomb tail bomb at the rear.
Distributor rebuilt by Martin Jay at Distributor Doctor, Pertronix internal electronic ignition installed with Flame Thrower coil.
Custom made aluminium high capacity radiator, silicone hoses throughout.
FUEL SYSTEM
Custom made aluminium fuel tank. Electronic Facet fuel pump. Twin SU HS6 carburettors rebuilt by Southern Carburettors, Piper Cross air filter (custom made). All fuel lines renewed.
TRANSMISSION
5 speed Ford type 9 gearbox conversion installed, new clutch, new propshaft. Differential rebuilt with new bearings and uprated universal joints, all drive shafts, hubs and bearings renewed. Automec Silicone Clutch Fluid.
BRAKES
New BCC 4 pot front callipers with EBC grooved discs and EBC pads. New rear drums, pistons, shoes and ancillaries. Iruna brake servo installed. All brake lines and hoses renewed. Automec Silicone Brake Fluid. Serious stopping power!!
SUSPENSION
Front end uprated with Canley Classics trunionless conversion including aluminium hubs. All wheel studs uprated. New Koni adjustable shocks, all springs renewed. Polyurethane bushes throughout. 14” Minilite wheels with Yokohama 539 tyres (sticks like glue). Re-cambered for stability. Superior handling!
STEERING
Fast rack with uprated track rod ends and solid mounts. Lovely black suede Moto Lita steering wheel.
ELECTRICAL
20 way fuse box with relays. All wiring has been custom installed using new thin walled cabling with every joint and termination soldered. New halogen headlights. New battery. High power output alternator.
INTERIOR
All brand new moulded carpets from Newton Commercial, seats upholstered in black leather, new headlining in black. Custom made inertia reel seatbelts. Custom made dashboard using Smiths Flight gauges and led warning lights.
BODYWORK
Completely rust free, all seals renewed. New door locks all round.
Has to be seen to be believed but please note that this car is a high specification resto-mod that is very useable on today’s roads. Probably the best GT6 on the planet??
