Description
This is the ultimate incarnation of the 164 called the Q4. With the masterful 3-litre V6 engine, 4WD, and a specially designed undercarriage with lowered and adjustable sport suspension and wider track width.
As well as boasting 230bhp on tap, the Q4 features a six-speed GETRAG close range manual gearbox allowing a top speed of 245km/ h, 'Viscomatic' four-wheel drive (developed with Austrian specialists Steyr-Puch), locking differential and anti-lock brakes as standard. It would also become the only Alfa Romeo 4x4 model to wear Pininfarina coachwork.
This stunning example offered here is one of only 1, 200 of the rare Q4 version built within the 164's last series of 1993-1994. The 4x4 system was revolutionary and unique for an Alfa Romeo at that time.
This car benefits from the following features; Upgraded Speedline alloy wheels, Brembo brakes with coloured callipers, Full leather interior, Extended leather, Front sports seats, Electric front seats, Heated front seats, Audio up-grade, Wood steering wheel.
A very desirable and collectable model. Becoming increasingly hard to source. Stunning specification and colour combination. Has to be one of the finest available.
The car has been in dry storage since I owned it with the rest of my modern classic collection. It has recently had a cambelt change and has a new MOT with zero advisories valid until April 25th 2025.
Very extensive service history file. Every invoice kept(albeit a lot in Japanese). All original handbooks and owners manuals. Delivered new to Japan and imported into the UK in 2016. This car is unrestored which is extremely rare for a 164 these days.
This particular car was supplied by Alfa Romeo to Japan and was imported into the UK about 6 years ago which is when I bought it. The car has only covered 66, 000 miles and obviously has been cherished as are most cars in Japan.
Practically all UK supplied Alfa Romeo’s of this period suffered quite badly with the dreaded rust, and unless each owner kept on top of the problem they ended up requiring paintwork and even welding Sometimes this is not that obvious when buying a used model. Due both to the dry climate and the absence of salt in Japan there is absolutely no sign on this car of the corrosion normally found on UK supplied Alfa Romeo of this era.
