I bought this from a specialist supplier in Holland and have spent much time and money turning it into stunning a usable modern classic. I wanted it to be functional as a daily driver so upgraded a few areas over and above the factory spec. It has the desirable and super durable 5 cylinder 2. 9 litre naturally aspirated diesel mated to the equally tough 5 speed manual gearbox that is a pleasure to use. The transfer case and locking differential are also in fine order. The bodywork is in great condition with no rust or major marks and it has been fully repainted in a period 1970's Porsche colour called Chartreuse and looks stunning. Various exterior trim components have also been restored and professionally powder coated meaning this car looks very sharp and cohesive.
Everything works as it should with no noises, smells etc and it drives beautifully with no slack or wear anywhere. The mileage is recorded as 76, 000 kilometres and the interior surfaces and materials are testament to this low figure. The overall suspension, power assisted steering and bushes are also in great shape.
The original heavy duty reinforced 16” steel wheels have been refurbished and fitted with uprated higher profile dual purpose tyres.
There are also extensive upgrades to the exterior lighting to make driving at night safer especially in remote areas. I have fitted a high quality LED dipped and main beam headlight kit to provide great visibility and a more modern, higher specification style which is complimented by an upgraded set of fog / daytime running lights, again powered by LED’s. I have fitted a new sound system including a new head unit featuring USB, IPhone and Aux connections and this is matched to new speakers also.
When I got it I had it fully checked over and serviced using high quality filters and the correct synthetic oil (nothing further due for at least another 10, 000 miles and even then it will only be a minor oil service) The coolant, brake, transmission, differential and axle fluids were renewed at the same time as well as the front brake discs and brake pads. With all this work done it runs brilliantly within nothing further needing doing.
I have loved building and using this car, it has turned out better than I’d dared hope and drives brilliantly. It also comes with a long MOT and has just had another service.
