Owned for the past 35 years by my long term friend, the current registered keeper. He's an ‘old school’ Land Rover guy, and during these years of ownership has enjoyed many thousands of miles of use, got into some scrapes, had endless adventures, as well as overseeing many previous upgrades and improvements to his beloved Range Rover, before he commissioned this most recent comprehensive, but unfinished, professional restoration, intended to result in the creation of one of the very best 2 Doors in existence, to his ultimate specification - a late spec shell with latest interior, dashboard, seats, doors, tailgate, sunroof etc, and the best diesel engine Land Rover produced.
A few years ago this detailed restoration began at an approved Land Rover facility, but stalled part way through. Life has a habit of getting in the way, and due to a new house build it is reluctantly now offered for sale by him privately for someone else to complete; a unique opportunity for the new owner to finish it to their own trim specification in the knowledge that most of the hard work has already been done, all to a standard that JLR Classic would be pleased with.
The work carried out to date is of the very highest quality, at all stages subject to a ‘nut and bolt’ approach, with new chassis, reconditioned axles, engine, gearbox and bodywork.
A fully reconditioned 200 Tdi Diesel engine is included, a fully reconditioned 5 speed manual LT77 gearbox, a fully reconditioned Borg Warner transfer box and fully reconditioned axles.
The bodyshell – a later ‘sloping floor’ version - such as those on the CSK 2 Doors – has been professionally and comprehensively restored, with zero rust and all new genuine part repair panels where required. The body panels themselves of are all in superb condition, new or new old stock or the very best original panels available, professionally resprayed in Range Rover Masai Red for a one-off fully bespoke finish.
Current unfinished spec is based around a 1992/ 3 200 Tdi Vogue SE – and can include ABS, heated front screen, central locking, air con (subject to appropriate wiring loom being fitted and back axle casing swap – most of these parts are present on the 3. 9 V8 Efi 4 Door donor vehicle which is included as part of the sale).
Some parts came from one of the 3 Olympic Range Rover Prototypes (it was rolled on the M6 on the way back from the NEC Motor Show and subsequently dismantled for parts) which were built 2 years before the CSK was released. Therefore the interior parts are grey.
The car drove in to the workshop before strip down for this latest restoration, and everything worked. Over the years however some parts have gone missing during storage and the restoration process.
MISSING PARTS – MANY OF WHICH ARE WITH THE DONOR VEHICLE (not an exhaustive list)
Rear flat floor section & floor to chassis brackets
Sunroof cassette and drain tubes
Headlining
Radiator and intercooler
Front propshaft
Fuel filter housing
Rear sear catches
Exhaust
Steering box
Front windscreen
Door fixed glass brackets

1 waist seal front door

ISSUES WHICH WILL NEED ADDRESSING
Main wiring loom will need minor repairs – donor vehicle has it’s own loom for help here
Some plastic trims are worn/ damaged
Rubber seals are showing signs of age
Seats may need localised repairs or re-upholstering (previously re-trimmed by Nationwide Trim)
Rear side windows have been dismantled and the frames re-painted, but need re-assembly. RH side has minor damage.
There may be some other minor parts not on this list – trim clips etc., and a new owner may wish to recondition or replace existing original items which have not been restored thus far.

IN SUMMARY this is a totally unique 2 Door Range Rover, built to the highest of standards which requires finishing. Tax and MOT free in the UK. When finished, will be a stunning vehicle on a par with the very finest of 2 Doors in existence, and represents an exciting opportunity for someone to complete to their own specification.
