The Viggen is the 2. 3 Turbo charged 230PS flagship of the Saab 9-3 range and was made in very limited numbers over a 2 year period. It was the swansong for that generation of Saab and therefore received all of the performance focus possible to ensure it could be a credible alternative to the Mercedes C43, Audi S4 and BMW M3 of the time.
Unique Viggen features include uprated brakes, bespoke Viggen branding, New interior colour splits and deco panels and unique 17” 5 spoke alloy wheels. The standard spec includes All round electric windows with global closing, Electric soft top operation, Remote central locking with alarm, Full trip computer, Viggen interior trim, Multi adjustable electric from seats, Trip computer, Front centre arm rest, Viggen 3 spoke leather steering wheel with remote audio controls, Front fog lights and a full compliment of airbags.
Options on this car include a (very effective) genuine Saab windbreak and floor mats as well as the striking orange and black leather interior combination that looks great. It's in excellent condition throughout, the tyres, brakes, exhaust etc are all in great shape.
There are no warning lights etc and remarkably little wear inside or out - it really could have only done 40k miles by looking at its overall condition. The body is in very good shape with no rust and the wheels are undamaged. When I bought it there was the usual welding required to sections of the floor, engine bay and boot area and this has been completed by the excellent Rust Rehab company who expertly completed the work and sealed the areas and floors using modern rust proofing materials meaning it will be protected for many years to come.
The service history is very comprehensive and extensive and the gentleman I bought it off had clearly cared for it in the 7 years he had owned it. When I bought it I had it fully serviced and thoroughly (its done 165k miles in total, low for one of these) and checked over by specialist Raw Saab also who have completed various specialist tasks including sump drop and breather pipe replacement as well as a full service if the electric roof mechanism. The clutch is recent and gearbox also work fine with no noises or obvious wear. I have also changed the engine mounts brakes and had a full 4 wheel alignment and wheel balancing completed so it runs straight as an arrow.
Due to all of the power going through the front wheels it is exciting to drive yet also very refined and a great companion on a long distance drive – it even averages 40mpg on a run and its only been run on 99 Ron unleaded in my ownership. I have loved using this car, it has not put a foot wrong and feels totally bomb proof with no rattles, squeaks, drafts, smoke etc. It has recently been MOT'd, has easy parts availability and costs very little to insure on a classic policy.
