Description
1939 Alvis 12/ 70 1842cc DHC, body by Mulliners and finished in beautiful deep black and cream paintwork. The integral gearbox (no cardon shaft required) has synchromesh on top, 3rd and 2nd gears enhancing the driving experience.
This vehicle was subject to a chassis up restoration approximately 12 years ago by Alvis specialists MCI in Blackburn, and has a fully rebuilt engine including starter and dynamo; all refitted with new engine bearers.
The body underwent a bare metal respray, doors carefully rehung and new door cards fitted. Along with new glass, the frames were also re chromed and a new top quality hood and hood bag also supplied. The interior overall is in nice condition, and compliments the very attractive look of this vehicle, especially with the hood down! All the bright work just adds to the very good overall look, making this a pleasure both to drive and to pamper.
The electrical system has been rewired, along with traffic turn signals, hazard lights and a sat nav socket keeping things right up to date.
More recent work undertaken includes the cylinder head being professionally descaled, skimmed and all the valves re-seated. For peace of mind new core plugs were fitted and the radiator has been re-cored along with an overhaul of the distributor.
Attention to the handling and brakes has also been taken care of, the 550 x 17 tyres are in excellent condition; the brakes have been relined and the rear shock absorbers have been reconditioned.
This will be supplied with invoices for works carried out, owners handbook, official spares list, and factory service bulletins. This is without a doubt a lovely example of the 12/ 70 marque, and is a joy to drive on either closed or open top days.
