Description

First of all, happy to accept payment through the C&C Escrow sytem.
I've owned this car since October 1982.
The car has had 2 owners before me. (the previous owner, my best friend)
The car has an Ivor Searle 1850 cc Stage II engine, that has only done around 35 000 miles, with a standard 4 speed box, plus overdrive.
Stainless steel exhaust.
In spite of it no longer being a legal requirement, I have always had the car MOT tested. Last test was in April 24, so valid till April 25.
Historic Vehicle Class, so free Vehicle Tax, and LEZs exemption.
The vehicle had the Ziebart treatment at their centre in Kellas, outside Dundee (at the time), when it was new, and I have periodically pumped wax into the box sections.
The front cross member was replaced last year.
This is a very solid car, with no evidence of structural rust/ corrosion.

Rear spring are parabolic, and the rear shockers are converted to telescopics. Leather seats with red piping, new door cards, and Moto Lita Steering wheel.
123 Solid state Distributer.
I know the Aero Alloys are a bit of an acquired taste, but I have the original Rostyles, and they have been blasted and painted silver. They will come with the car, along with the masks to apply the gloss black to the centres.
There is a spare boot lid, (Needs painted), if you don't want to have the stainless steel boot rack on all the time.
A roll bar, and space saver spare wheel, (in addition to the full size spare wheel), will also come with the car.
There's also a buffalo cover, and full tonnau hood. Apart from a small tear in the car hood, it is in good condition. I hardly ever close the roof, so it hasn’t had much use!
I doubt if the roof has been closed for than 5% of the car's life with me.
There is a small blemish to the paintwork on the boot lid, caused by the weight of the boot rack, on the single boot lid support. (See photo)
The car drives very well, with no untowards sounds or noises.
Price negociable. After nearly 42 years of ownership I think it is time to move on my 1978 MGB Roadster.
In 42 years of ownership, I have made quite a few modifications, not least the rubber to chrome bumpers, and the fitting of an Ivor Searle Stage II engine, bored out to 1850cc. The engine has only done about 35 000 miles. The overdrive was replaced at the same time. It therefore has just a little more oomph than a standard MGB of the time.
Total counter reading is 165 000.
Car has an inch thick history file, with many, many receipts for parts bought from the MG owners club, work done to the car by a local MG specialist, old MOT certificates back to the 1990s. The original delivery book with first owners name address etc. Original owner's handbook.

Three owners, myself, my best pal Colin Mackenzie, (who I bought it from), and the 1st owner, Miss Susan Dunbar. It’s a Perth reg number, 1st owner lived in Scone.
I've loved this car, it's been part of my life for a very large part of my life. It's part of my soul........ I bought this car back in 1982, just around the time I met my wife, so it also has strong sentimental value.
Whenever I get the car out of the garage in the spring, and drive for the first time that year, it always brings a big smile to my face.

Why am I selling? I now have 2 Saab 96s, this MGB, and a Nissan Figaro and only 3 garages. Though I can still get in and out of it reasonably well, I know that is not going to continue. This is one of the reasons I have not lowered the suspension. That, and speed humps!!!!
This is easily done, with a kit from the MGB Owners Club.
The car has always been garaged, throughout its life with me.

Oh, IMPORTANT, the car has a normal UK V5C registration document, but it also has a French registration document, (Carte Grise) dating from the 1990s. I lived in France, with the car, for 6 years in the nineties.
The car is in east Fife, about an hour north of Edinburgh.
