Description
1972 Triumph Stag 3. 5 V8 Auto. (Range Rover engine conversion)
Proceeds to go to the Brain Tumour Charity.
This was our dad's beloved Triumph Stag that we crowdfunded for his 70th birthday. He enjoyed seven glorious years in it as a regular star of numerous road trips and adventures across the UK.
It was always intended that when he stopped using it, the car would be sold and the proceeds would go directly to the Brain Tumour Charity Cameron Buchanan Fund.
This particular example comes with a 3. 5 litre V8 conversion from a Range Rover. The Borg-Warner three-speed auto gearbox is reliable and matches the torquey engine beautifully, pulling swiftly off the mark and settling smoothly at speed.
Always garaged and serviced religiously every year. Stunning dark blue paintwork still shines and its wheels and chrome remain in good order. Unmarked roof.
The interior is in fair condition for its age, although the driver’s seat has been retrimmed in leather in order to aid access for our dad. The rest of the interior will need to be retrimmed by the new owner.
When we purchased it, the Stag had just had a significant restoration by its previous keeper. Runs well, pulls strongly, changes gear on time and is generally reliable. Cosmetics required.
This is by no means a standard Stag, nor is it in perfect condition but the price reflects this. After many years and over 5, 000 miles of fun, it could do with some additional care and attention but if you’re looking for a solid, characterful, spritely, burbling, head-turning classic with plenty of history, this is for you.
Please bear in mind that proceeds from the sale will go to the Brain Tumour Charity in memory of our dad who drove this car like he lived his life: with a permanent smile on his joy-filled face. Thank you for looking, and please pass this on to anyone you think you think may also be interested.

* We had originally intended the gift to be for our dad's 70th birthday but then we organised a surprise party exactly one year early, attended by many of his friends, family and fans, to really surprise him. This is the 1972 Series 1 Triumph Stag automatic that was owned by Cameron Buchanan - our dad. Crowdfunded via his friends and family for his 70th birthday we purchased his dream car on the proviso that when he eventually stopped using it, it would be sold and the proceeds would be donated to the Brain Tumour Charity - the organisation that helped him, and us, so much over the last 14 years.
When we lost him in June 2023 an era came to an end and now that spring has finally arrived it is time to find a new owner who will appreciate the Stag like he did.
There are many stories and hundreds of photos to share with prospective buyers and we are happy to do so. However, please bear in mind that we are doing this in our dad's memory and so please only get in touch if you are both genuine and serious about owning a special piece of automotive history that is beautiful to look at, mechanically strong and is a huge amount of fun to drive.
In the meantime you can view the full advert below and you can view more pics at - details above, the website we set up in his memory.
We look forward to hearing from you.

* Since posting this advert we have discovered that the Stag needs some welding to the chassis. It will take a few days and we can get this done prior to sale, or the prospective buyer can do the work at their end and we will deduct the cost of the work needed.
