Description
1963 LAND ROVER SERIES 2A LONG NOSE
RESTORED | SAND | PETROL
Series Land Rover LWB 109” in NATO Sand with tan upholstery and an Exmoor canvas bikini roof. Extensively restored and modified, it was inspired by the Bell Aurens Land Rover whilst retaining all the design and characteristics of the Series IIa Land Rover. Lawrence is fitted with a Rover V8, sitting on deep dish Forward Control wheels and has a start sequence that involves Lancaster Bomber magneto switches and an original Spitfire starter button. Featured in Land Rover Monthly Nov 2022 and a short film is on YouTube by searching Lawrence Longnose.
Underside:
Chassis fully restored and treated in near perfect condition…similarly the bulkhead is in perfect condition.
Engine & Mechanical:
The Land Rover is fitted with a Rover V8 3500. Mechanically works exactly as you would expect. Brakes, steering, differentials, and transmission all perform as expected. All the suspension bushes have been replaced with poly bushes, new brake shoes and wheel cylinders (the axles are from a straight 6 109). New flexi hoses and copper brake pipes throughout. The gear box is an LT95 with rare Fairey Overdrive. A new clutch pressure, friction plate and release bearing have been fitted.
Exterior:
The body has been fully restored and painted in NATO Sand colour. All of the cappings have been stripped and re-galvanized, as have the front bumper and windscreen.
Wheels are the very rare 569203 forward control deep dish wheels with new tyres. A new Exmoor Trim canvas bikini and sticks come with the car.
It has been carefully maintained and has been kept on the road each year. With yearly trips to Goodwood…always kept garaged. The vehicle is MoT exempt, ULEZ compliant, and tax exempt. If you are looking for a mechanically sorted but rather different looking Series Land Rover, this is your car.
