Description
BSA Lightning Clubman, built in 1965 but not registered until 1969. BSA owners club certificate confirms model and date of manufacture.
The bike is not completely original see details below
It has been completely restored at a cost of circa £8, 000Although registered in 1969 the bike is a BSA Lightning Clubman. This has been verified through the frame and engine numbers by the BSA owners club. The bike is not a completely original example. The close ratio gearbox and rearsets are not present. Also the Clubman was only made between 1964 and 1965. The BSA certificate confirms it was made within this period but clearly not registered until later. This Clubman is not being sold as 100% original as there have been changes since it was built. It is however a stunning machine in excellent condition and has original features only found on the Clubman.
The bike has been completely stripped and restored as close as possible to the Clubman spec with many new parts. The engine has been professionally rebuilt with new pistons, valves, big ends and bearings, crank reground and balanced and it has been converted to run on lead free petrol.
I spent about £8, 000 on the restoration and have all receipts. The bike has been converted to 12v electrics and has electronic ignition. It is fitted with Avon Roadrunner tyres.
Since being rebuilt it passed the MOT and has done less than 100 miles. It has been stored for sometime so will need a re-commissioning service before being used.
