Description
A very nice folding roof Ovali Beetle from 1957 (vehicle identification number 1502114), in which a lot of work and money has been invested in recent years. I bought it from a company that rents out classic cars, organises trips and arranges events. That's why the restoration focussed more on functionality and suitability for everyday use than on one hundred percent originality. For example, the side indicators were removed and a more powerful 34 hp engine (engine number 184713) was installed. The history can be traced back to 1986 and there have been two owners since then. According to the previous owner, the following work was carried out in 2016, which I cannot(!) prove - "Body completely dismantled, ice-blasted and repainted, completely new engine installed, all technical components such as axles, brakes, etc. overhauled or renewed. Chrome parts renewed, new tyres". After all, I still have copies of invoices and receipts from 2021/ 2022 for approx. 9, 200 euros (in which the engine is not present!). There is also a Classic Data report from 2016, in which the car was given a condition rating of 2+.
The dark blue folding roof cover (Mercedes Sonnenland quality) and the artificial leather interior give a very good impression. The kilometres are, of course, the read-off figures. In the meantime, a contemporary Blaupunkt radio has been installed to close the ugly gap in the dashboard. However, it was neither connected nor checked for function. The steering wheel is a very rare contemporary "Petri steering wheel" and is being sold commercially.
