Description
This is for a genuine Honda City Turbo, the only one in the UK in black. There are 2 other City Turbos, one blue, one red. This is the first generation one, Honda's first turbo powered car designed by Hitotoshi Honda, the original Mr. Honda's son, who went on to found the Honda specialist tuning company Mugen after. It's very rare with only 17, 000 made all for the Japanese market. It has 99bhp which is plenty to move its 650kg frame along.
This one is in remarkable condition, and I have tracked the history of it. The original owner was a 70 year old man, who got the car as a gift from his son who was a Honda dealership owner, and who went on to run historical car shows in Japan, so it was well looked after in Japan. After the owner passed away, around 30 years later, the car was eventually picked up by an exporter, and it ended up in the UK to sell on, I bought it here from a private importer and have had it for 5 years now, it's always been garaged to preserve the condition.
I enjoyed it for a year, taking it to car shows around the country where it always got a lot of attention and even won a top car award in the Japfest show. The car always worked flawlessly living up the to the Honda reliability reputation. Then covid hit, car shows were cancelled, and my third child was born, so I haven't been using it since, I have got a job abroad now, so can't justify keeping it anymore unfortunately.
I recently replaced the fuel pump, and took it for an MoT. It failed on 2 front tyres (they have cracked in the sidewall, not tread wear) and a CV cover needs replacing. Due to my work abroad, I haven't had time to address these issues, but they are obviously minor and cheap to address. The MoT tested remarked he was impressed by the condition of the vehicle and let me take some photos of the underside whilst it was up on the ramp.
The vehicle is now registered as a historical registration vehicle. So it is a tax-free vehicle and does not require an MoT again. I pay £100 a year to insure it on a 3000 mile/ year classic car policy, so it's an incredibly cheap car to own. The car is in fantastic condition, and cleans up beautifully. It's not concourse condition, but is a lovely car that's ready for the new owner to enjoy.
