BODYWORK
Restored in Jersey around ten years ago, the paint and body work are in great condition with no areas needing any attention so a regular wash and wax will keep him in tip top condition for years to come. He's painted in Sea Blue with VWL90D white roof.
MECHANICAL
When we found Maximus for the current owner he'd just been imported from Jersey and was looking very smart, but we took him to the next level and set about upgrading everything on him, including:
• IRS rear suspension
• Freeway flyer gearbox from Bears Motorsport
• 2007cc custom-built engine from Tony at VW Microgiant. Tony is one of the best engine builders in the UK, his 40 years of experience resulting in high revving capabilities and reliable hp – and this one is a work of art, producing 138. 5 bhp at the wheels
• Extra oil cooler and ducting plus an extra breather system
• CSP front brake conversion with servo upgrade
• Right hand drive conversion using Creative Engineering parts
• Direct drive steering conversion with power steering from Lite Steer
• Lowered by 4 inches
INTERIOR
The complete interior has been replaced with new Vanwurks units, cooker, sink, fridge, rock and roll bed, along with all the electrics you will need to go camping – it even has a petrol heater for the cold winter nights. There's a Clarion flip-up stereo/ sat nav with 4 speaker system and a painted dash that looks amazing. Other extras include:
• Custom 120mph speedo
• Oil temperature/ pressure gauge/ rev counter
• MCJ wooden steering wheel
• New Dormobile pop-top roof, painted, lined and fitted by us
• New head lining
• Front and rear 3-point seatbelts

DRIVING
Maximus drives very well, the steering is nice and positive with no wandering at all and the gear change is also good. The brakes are spot on with the help of the servo assistance and the engine is in a league of its own, easily capable of cruising at 70mph, with a lot more power in reserve too. Getting to your destination in style is all part of the journey, and in Maximus it's an absolute pleasure.
CAMPING
Maximus has everything you need for a comfortable camping trip, and the fact that he's a real head-turner will mean that you won't want your holiday to end, you'll just want to keep showing him off.
