1984 Ford Gt40 - Jacky Ickx’s 1969 Le Mans Winning “Tribute” Version
This “Tribute” Version of Jacky Ickx’s 1969 Le Mans Winning Car, has been painstakingly hand-built, by a true engineering enthusiast, over many years, to commemorate Jacky Ickx’s very famous surprise, final fourth Le Mans win, in succession, for Henry Ford 11, in the very late 1960’S, where he “walked” from
the line, in 1969, in protest for the traditional Le Mans start and, in fact, was therefore, the very last sports car away and then finally, after 24 arduous hours, of Racing, he and his co-driver, the other Jacky,(Oliver), came through the “huge field” to finish, just ahead of Gerald Larousse’s Porsche 908, to create, what is scarcely still believable to-day, the closest ever recorded finish, in Le Mans sports Car Racing History.

The Ford Gt40, was originally created, to”re-buff” Ferrari and for Henry Ford 11 to exert “revenge”, for Enzo’s refusal, to sell his Ferrari Company to Ford, after repeated attempts to do so, which they eventually did, an amazing “four times” in succession, so when Ford’s “racing originals” very rarely come to market, they tend to fetch, some “six-figure” sums of dollars, none more so, than chassis “1075”, the actual 1969 Le Mans winner, driven so competently by the “two Jacky’s”, and which now currently resides , in the Henry Ford Museum, in the U. S. A.

Our similarily spec’d, “commemorative”model, now offered here, resplendent in its now wonderfully patenated famous and traditionally correct, shade of “gulf-oil” livery of J. W. Automotive well known colours, of powder blue and orange “heritage livery”, also sits in our private “Campbell museum” of record breakers, which indeed it most certainly is, being the only single company, to win this arduous Le Mans Sports Car race an incredible “four times”in succession and since qualifying, as a recent entrant to the “retro” Le Mans classic, itself.

There is, of course , a very full comprehensive history file, all documented, of the build/ servicing records, etc, available to view, and V5 C Registration Document, which all confirms its now “historical status” and also included in this sale, is it’s “date-related” early number plate.

Over the years, much work, time and expenditure, has been completed, which is all documented in our very detailed descriptive breakdown, here in Sussex, U. K. and which any new potential owner, is most welcome to obtain and view, either by email or direct phone, but some more recent improvements and modification do include, some unusual “sculptured-in” , front, colour co-ordinating, “canards” aero-dynamic “fins”, used for “stability”, when travelling at immense speeds, down the very long “Mulsanne” straight at Le Mans, a “cill-mounted”,“dog-leg” wooden “gt40” logo’d, gear shift lever, as seen on the “original” factory race cars, full black leather trimmed race interior, with blue “ full” racing 4-point “ villains” harnesses, with detachable “quick-release” press button catch’s, to both drivers and passengers “bucket” race seats, turn- key racing, red battery “cut-off” master switch, “split-rim” alloy, and powder coated , logo’d and painted BRM wheels, with “authentic” chrome “wired-in”, dummy spinners, complete with newly imported (U. S. A.), 285mm wider Good Year Eagle Racing Tyres, as per photo’s, on display here, a racing “fully fixed-in” fire extinguisher and extended rear “en-larged”and over “bored- out” chrome “twin” exhaust tail-pipe’s, as per originals, which now emit a very throaty roar, but still complying with newly introduced noise track decibel limits, newly painted “numbered” rondels, “bundle-of-snake’s” exhaust system, “racing” blue “aeromac” hoses, new battery, etc.

This is surely a truly unique opportunity to acquire, what is still one of the worlds’s most desirable sports cars, and deemed by very many knowledgeable authoritative “afficiendo’s, as the “world’s” first and foremost, true racing super car,
as depicted in the many “Le Mans”racing film’s, and not least, but most originally ,”Steve Mcqueen’s” own, originaly famous, era-defining, factually accurate, action film, with all eye’s always turning in this cars direction, each and every single time, it embarks on any outing or journey, in its now “wonderfully” patenated, pristine condition, which its new owner can continue to cherish and enjoy to its full.
