Description
Update 20-01-2024 DEPOSIT TAKEN - will remove listing once balance is paid. One of two i bought in 2014. As long time N600 owners we fancied a Z600 too and bought two when a local garage owner storing them retired. I am restoring the 1972 car and that means i can now move the 1973 car on if anyone is interested. Bodywork: floors and front bulkhead/ engine bay/ all 4 shock mounts are solid, outer sills and sill rear kick panels have holes, i suspect inner sills do too but are covered by original trim covers. I have cut sections from ford transit connect outer sills for my z600 resto and they match OK. Inner wing condition unknown. Front upper x member has been cut out but is present and will need re-welded back in place. All outer panels are present but OSF wing is holed at the bottom and all have either small dents or surface rust. I do have a NOS NS door to go with the car which has slight surface rust. Roof appears dent free. All glass is present and in good order. I am assuming the glass and door seals are good as there is no damp in the car despite being outside under a tarp. Interior is 100% present and needs cleaning and refurb. Engine and chassis numbers match. There is no V5 but the original number plates eng + chassis no's are present. Engine turns over and bottom end seems OK for axial and lateral (end float) movement. Lower cam idler and tensioner look worn - a common fault on these and other 70s Honda twins. There is an option to replace the tensioner with a solid - non hydraulic version which old honda CB 'bike fans do. Barrells and pistons will need at least a polish and poss a rebore - though NOS rings are not available i have used ford 1300 x-flow compressions rings to good effect. Both pistons are present and intact. One has all rings free and another has the compression rings seized seized but the oil scraper is free. AFAIK the head, valves, seats, rockers and camshaft are good. Gearbox, gear-change and driveshafts appear fine. Suspension works but will need refurb. Brakes are 100% present BUT front calipers and discs will need rebuilt. Rear brakes are complete but again slave cylinders will need a rebuild. Servo was fitted to Z600s but not N600s - same brakes so it stops ok W/ O servo BUT servo will prob need rebuild. All brake and fuel
lines will need renewed. Lights and control electrics are all 90% present but function and condition unknown. Ignition and charge electrics: alternator, rectifier diodes, charging brush holder and loom are present but condition unknown. Volt regulator is absent but there are work-arounds and refurbs for sale in USA c £200. Electric fuel pump present but condition unknown. Points and condensor present but coil isn't. We use Honda CB450/ 500 'bike coils and they work fine on our N600 as do c70/ c90 points. Whilst i can pass on many spares with the car there are a few issues i want to warn potential buyers about: Fuel tank is grim and it maybe easier to make a new one than repair. Exhaust manifold has been cut about and exhaust system is rotten beyond repair. New ones will need to be fabricated. ATM the OSR slave cylinder is missing but is def in one of my stores - just a matter of finding it. It has original Z600 wheels and the tyres stay up for 2-3m or very hot weather - whichever comes first, vehicle rolls so can be dollied or trailered. Engine shows 54k miles. Price is a guide and happy to accept best offers due to imminent house move. Way better than an Imp or Mini IMO, more comfy and better interiors, a good Z or N600 will do 55-60mpg and 70+ mph all day long. Zagato styling like a mini 240Z or modern Z350/ 370. I've driven one from Perth in Scotland to Southern Spain and back with no issues. I've owned N and Z 600s since 1984 and their handing and pick up in low gears always puts a smile on my face and surprises many other road users!
