Description
Registered on 6th April 1976, this matching numbers Norton Commando Interstate MkIII, has had only five owners, including the seller, and has been totally restored. The bike will be supplied with the full restoration history, all invoices and previous bills, back to 1993.
This was the final Commando variant, launched in 1995 when Norton was close to bankruptcy. It was manufactured with a left foot gearchange for the american market. It was more reliable, oil tight and more robust than any of its predecessors.
1976 was debatably the last year of production of the Mk III, though others exist that were made up of parts that were available.
This has the upgraded starter motor, and electronic ignition (Boyer), gold effect spoke nipples to match the gold striping, and allen bolts for the chain case, orange HT cables, non original dial supports, black exhaust clamps, but is otherwise pretty original. The exhausts are the black cap type rather than cone as it gives a more 'touring' look.
One the nicest examples around.
This has been exhibited in a museum for a few years and will be viewable in W4 from December 2024.
