Description
Citroën Xantia (SORN)
I am selling this Citroën Xantia on behalf of my father, who is retired and no longer has the need for his cherished car. It has been in our family for many years, and I’m sure it’s destined to become a future classic. Known for its reliability and smooth ride, this Xantia has never let my father down and has proven to be an excellent workhorse, especially with its surprisingly large boot space and completing a few trips to Morocco and back!
Key Features:
• Year: 1998
• Mileage: 104, 000 miles – low for a car of this age, with plenty of life left in the engine
• Engine & Gearbox: Both in excellent working order, reliable, and well-maintained
• Suspension: The iconic hydropneumatic suspension system offers a ride quality that rivals even modern cars, and it works perfectly with new spheres fitted fairly recently
• Comfort: In true Citroën fashion, the car offers an incredibly comfortable driving experience
Condition:
Mechanically, the car is sound. It starts up easily, runs smoothly, and has been regularly taken for short drives around the block to keep everything moving. However, due to sitting unused for a while, it would benefit from a full service. There’s a slight oil weep, which I believe is an easy fix for someone familiar with these cars. Additionally, the radio is not working, but this can easily be remedied with a budget aftermarket option if you want.
The bodywork is not perfect, as is to be expected from a car over 25 years old. There’s the typical lacquer peel that is common on cars of this era, and there is a dent on the driver’s side door from an unfortunate incident in a car park. Overall, it is in fair cosmetic condition, but the core mechanics and driving experience are where this car really shines.
Additional Information:
My father has always been meticulous about servicing the car himself, performing yearly maintenance to ensure it stayed in good working order. Although there’s not much service history available, I’ve tried to be as honest as possible about the car’s condition. Despite its age, this Xantia runs beautifully, and with some minor TLC, I’m confident it will serve its next owner well.
While I’ve considered keeping the car as a personal project or even taking it on a rally across Europe, I’ve had to admit to myself that other commitments in life will prevent me from getting around to it anytime soon. As such, I’m reluctantly putting it up for sale, hoping that the next owner will appreciate it just as much as my father has.
