Wow! That's expensive! Or is it?
I have owned this car since 2016. I lavished a huge amount of money having the car transformed from, what was pretty much a shell, to this stunning vehicle that you see now. I bought this vehicle noticing that it had never ever been painted. I had most panels replaced, either British Motor Heritage or M Machine. The engine has been re-bored, however only to +10, because it had never been refurbed before. I had the gear box refurbed, however we always struggled to get any decent clutch action on it. Having run out of ideas, I contacted a company who have a person who worked on these cars in 1961. He did a modification to the fly wheel that he had not carried out for 40 years. He commented that it is possible that the mileage is correct, as these cars had this difficulty when they were new. In any case, it is all sorted now, and the gear change and clutch action is excellent. I have a Heritage certificate for this vehicle and I have obviously had it painted the original colour (Surf Blue). I also paid Newton Commercial for an interior which was the same pattern as the original. Being the person that I am, everything had to be perfect, so I even had the chrome surround on the speedo re-chromed and an O ring made specially when it was refitted. This is most likely amongst the best available and most likely would only be of interest to someone who wants something that is perfect. These cars are getting extremely expensive these days to restore to this standard, therefore, having done your sums, this would stack up to a very fair price. I even had the opening rear windows re-made and re-chromed, as these, as far as I am aware, are unavailable.
I had the opportunity also of buying some Nang Kang tyres, but I thought spending £450 on some Heritage tyres would make me feel much better and, indeed, for the buyer to feel much better!
If you would like to view the car and have it inspected, please feel to contact me. I have made every effort to keep the originality of this car, however, as you most likely can tell it has had many replacement items. I managed to pay someone to re-condition the original radiator. I am extremely proud of the car that I have restored. I would hazard a guess that this is one of the best out there.
A part exchange is possible, as long as it is sensible.
