Excellent investment Overhaul valid until December 2023During the model's development, Ferrari began to transfer some of the knowledge derived from the world of Formula 1 to that of production cars: Electronic Injection, Flat Bottom, Sequential Gearbox and Electronically Controlled Suspension adjustable from the cockpit on two different settings, Normal and Sport. The latter, in particular, stiffened the suspension and, in versions with an electro-actuated sequential gearbox, speeded up gear changes. The F355's chassis was made entirely of steel. The engine, located in the central part of the car, was a 3. 5-litre, 90° V8 cylinder with 5-valve-per-cylinder distribution, capable of developing a maximum power output of 380 hp at 8250 rpm, an increase over the 300 hp of the 348.
The F355 was also innovative thanks to an in-depth study carried out by Pininfarina on aerodynamics, both for the passage of flows in the car's completely fairing underbody and around the passenger compartment. The car has, for the first time in Ferrari's history, an electro-actuated 'F1-type' gearbox. The F1 gearbox, borrowed from the world of racing, was a gearbox without a clutch pedal and controlled by two rocker arms placed behind the steering wheel for engaging and disengaging gears, characteristic of F1 single-seaters, as well as some controls placed on the central tunnel for selecting reverse and neutral. The clutch was a semi-automatic type. It fitted Bosch Motronic 5. 2 ignition.
