The bike is a restored 650cc single, an easy starter & lovely ride. Surprisingly quick off its mark, lovely clutch and gearbox action, good brakes.

The bike has all original elements but restored, all tinware paintwork professionally repainted to a fantastic finish, the frame was powder coated, for longevity. The original tank was in good shape and has been professionally restored chromed and painted, original badges, and new vintage style petrol taps fitted. The list of works is extensive, complete front fork rebuild bushes seals, original Armstrong rear shocks had same treatment and painting, chroming and new cups. The wheels rebuilt in stainless steel, with stainless spokes and new tyres. Hubs refinished and alloy polished covers, brakes fully reconditioned. The rear drive sprocket replaced, the front drive gearbox sprocket replaced, new drive chain. Gearbox fully dismantled cleaned reconditioned and seals etc. New clutch and associated springs. The Amal carburettor has been stripped cleaned and new jets, needle etc.
The engine has been fully stripped down cleaned, covers polished, repaired where needed, a rebore and new rover piston fitted to reduce oil consumption (a common fix), the head has an old repair considered solid. Many stainless bolts and fixings used to replace rusted ones and some original ones replated. The Mag Dynamo has been professionally restored and converted to 12volt. Has new Electronic Regulator fitted inside original control box. The handlebars re-chromed, new levers, the choke, valve lifter etc have been re-chromed or appropriate substitute versions used. The seat base repaired and powder coated before new seat pad made. The headlamp unit has original lens and re-chromed parts, Speedo original, ammeter is modern vintage substitute, has gold leaf Panther coin emblem.
New false battery housing a pair of sealed lead acid batteries wired for 12v supply. New wiring loom. All new cables and tubing. New chromed exhausts (Armours). New footrest rubbers and grips and kick start rubber. Number plates are original rear and front mudguard.
A Panther club side stand fitted as well as a new centre stand that has an easy roll on/ off action.
FULL FILE OF DOCUMENTS REGARDING REBUILD and photos if wanted. The original green logbook (now has Historic Vehicle V5) + Panther Club Machine Dating Certificate. An old MOT FROM 9th May 1973 when the mileage recorded was 19360. An old picture of it from 1975, when it first arrived into the family so I know its not had much mileage since 1975.
TAX & MOT EXEMPT BUT PASSED MOT ANYWAY 23/ 06/ 2020 21838 miles recorded. Mileage since has been minimal speedo shows 21870. Single cylinder motorcycle made in Yorkshire Britain by Phelon and Moore. Looks amazing as the engine is such a prominent feature.
This bike has been in my family ownership since 1975 and was dismantled back then and never rebuilt, due to poor storage the bike deteriorated badly. 6 years ago, a restoration was begun to bring it to life and to use it. The bike was completed in 2020 during COVID and since my situation has changed and hence its sale.
USE IT FOR SUNDAY RUN’S, VINTAGE MEETS OR LONG-DISTANCE TOURS, that's what I originally planned. It’s genuine and will do someone proud for many years, a shame that my plans for it are not going to materialise as it’s a lovely old thing! It has a unique Panther Head decoration on the engine case that I made from fused glass.
