Description
Imported in 1928 and originally registered as 'XV 6108', this particular Lambda was purchased by, the late Ronald Amey, in the mid-1950s from a garage in Gloucestershire. As purchased, the Lancia had been 'cut and shut', the wheelbase having been shortened in the process of transforming it into a 'Shelsley Walsh Special'. The car was restored in the 1980s, the chassis being returned to the correct length and a new ash-framed aluminium-panelled body (copied from a contemporary Torpedo design) built by the Oxford Carriage Company
After spending twenty years in storage, I purchased car as non runner, with engine seized, in March 2018 and started a complete mechanical rebuild, including, new cylinders and pistons, Crankshaft polished, all new bearings, by Hamlins of Bridgwater, cylinder head rebuilt, with numerous new parts from the excellent Lambda Consortium, uprated new oil pump, water pump, after rebuild, engine was balanced by Vibrations Free.
Gearbox and clutch rebuilt. Dynamo rewound.
Attended the Lancia Rally in Belgium in 2019 and car behaved faultlessly.
On return fitted an overdrive by Tim Payne, to take pressure off engine and make cruising more relaxing. {This can easily be removed for the purist if necessary} SU carburettor fitted for ease of tuning and reliability but I still have original Zenith.
Attended the Lambda 100 anniversary outing to Turin in September 2022 when she covered over 2000 miles in two weeks without any problem whatsoever.
It is "on the button" and ready for a new adventure.
The time has now come for me to find a new challenge, so reluctantly
I'm letting her go. Excellent luggage space accessed behind the seats. for long distance touring. Good all weather equipment., and tonneau cover.
