Description
Completely Unique Genuine Hirsch tuned Saab 9-3 V6 Manual!
Certified by Hirsch
Hirsch made 50 of these cars, they were all left-hand drive and sold in Germany
This is as far as I know, the only complete RHD version of the full Hirsch Specification car.
I have the verification from Hirsch, contact with the first owner who commissioned the car and details of the subsequent owner and the dealer.
Blisteringly fast with a 6-speed manual mated to the turbo V6, a rare enough combination in itself, this engine has been tuned by Hirsch to deliver even more power.
At 84, 000 miles (5600 a year average and only 1300 a year for the past three) it’s an incredibly low mileage for any car let alone a Saab!
Hirsch egg box front grilles
Piano black interior capping's
Alloy Hirsch pedals
Flat bottom steering wheel
Carbon leather covered dash binnacle
Premium sound system with amplified 12” subwoofer
Electric driver’s seat
19” Borbet “Hirsch Performance” wheels
Hirsch suspension
Uprated Brakes with the 9-3 X AWD larger discs and callipers
While I’ve had the car I’ve recommissioned it to make it thoroughly roadworthy and consequently:
1. Replaced the front off-side wheel bearing which was noisy
2. New Pagid front brake pads
3. New wheel nuts
4. Sourced the correct Locking wheel nuts key
5. Upgraded the Gear linkage to the X8R
6. Wheels restored
The alloy wheels have been extensively refurbished, Acid dipped, powder coated and checked on a wheel alignment lathe (they were perfect)
The car has most recently lived in central London and suffered the fate of many London cars of kerb rash on the wheel rims. Whilst I wouldn’t normally change the original spec of a car, because this is an officially tuned car, I took the liberty of changing the wheels colour from silver to anthracite, partly because it was a Hirsch option and partly because I think it suits the car very well.
The car has just passed its MOT with no advisories
It drives beautifully and is incredibly fast as you would expect.
I know this sounds like sales hype but the car has the potential to be improved which will increase its value and its apparently unique and definitely extremely rare status guarantees that it will only appreciate in value over time.
So now the bad bits!
The reason I bought the car is that I have always wanted a 2. 8 manual 9-3 aero ESTATE car and this came up on a salvage auction site so I bought it for its engine and other mechanicals not knowing it was a Hirsch car.
The car was running and driving when it arrived here and had a dent in the back wing which although very minor is why it was recorded category N
On seeing the antler badges and the obvious differences to a normal aero I quickly realised I’d bought something unusual and that it would be sacrilege to take its engine away.
I booked the car into a local Bodyshop and instructed them to do a Thatcham level repair to the rear wing so that I could get the car to a “condition inspected” standard at Thatcham.
I was disappointed when the car came back to find the repair wasn't to the standard I was expecting, not quite up to that needed for a presentation for a Thatcham inspection.
If I was keeping the car I would be happy to use it as it is and get the value out of the work I've had done, then have it brought to Thatcham standard later.
I am being completely honest and upfront about the repair quality, I don’t want an enthusiast to come and look at the car and be disappointed.
I’m fortunate to own a 1988 900 turbo 16 and although it is a completely different car and driving experience to the Hirsch car, out of the two I’m sentimentally attached to the old 900 and given that I never set out to buy a 9-3 Convertible I simply cant justify keeping both cars so you will understand why this beautiful car is for sale.
I am a private seller, I am not a business or a dealer.
I have photographs of the car in its damaged state and also during its recent repair, the contact details of the original owner who commissioned the Hirsch conversion, the subsequent owner, the certification from Hirsch and the contact of the guy at Hirsch who helped me obtain the copy certificates.
I am happy to show the photographs to anyone who views the car and the buyer will be given these.
I hope you appreciate that I will not show them to you on a digital enquiry as I and more importantly the new owner lose control of where those pictures end up.
I have the permission of the owners to pass their details on to the buyer of the car.
