Description

Here is a very rare opportunity to buy a restored 1976 Greeves QUB 380 Griffon MK2.

The bike has been completely stripped prior to the renovation.

The frame and associated cycle parts are repainted.

The seat has been renovated by specialists RK Leighton to a very high standard.

The tank is the original aluminium one that has been refurbished again to a high standard.

The mudguards are the correct Preston Petty items and are new old stock in the correct colour. The fibreglass side panels have been repaired and resprayed.

The flanged Borrani rims have been respoked, the hubs shot blasted and repainted with the correct crinkle finish paint, the bearings and tyres have been replaced.

The barrel, cylinder head and exhaust system have been blasted and sprayed in Cerakote to replicate the original. The engine was found to be in good useable condition with no obvious wear. The clutch was stripped and a new thrust bearing fitted whilst the chaincase was mirror polished. The gearbox is a robust unit and needed no attention.

The rear shock absorbers are new Betor gas assisted items to the same length as the originals. The front forks also have a gas assist. I'm not sure if this was a factory fitment but the pipework was there when I bought the bike.

All the bolts are polished stainless, not strictly original I know but this bike really should be in a private collection or museum. It is far to rare and well restored to be thrashed around in the mud!I Have owned this rare bike since 2009.

I bought it in a poor state, got it running and road registered so that I could legally ride from my house to suitable off road track where I could have some fun!

For at least the last 10 years the bike has been stored at the back of my garage waiting for me to give it the love it deserved.

This is a very rare bike. Only around 40 were made before the Greeves factory closed and I believe only around 10 genuine examples exist.

I have a letter from Derry Preston-Cobb, Sales Director at Greeves, to Bunny Ward at Wakelin and Ward in Birmingham, the supplying dealer, detailing the new range. This letter is dated 14th January 1976.

There is a Dating Certificate from The Greeves Riders association detailing 1976 as the year of manufacture.

The bike has now been extensively renovated using new old stock parts where necessary.

The bike is a genuine collectors item.
