Description
1932. 30HP Lanchester Straight Eight Torpedo Tourer.
One of only 128 built. The 4. 4 litre ohc engine has 10 main bearings and dual ignition by both magneto and coil. The 11ft 10 inch chassis cost £1250, ( more than the Rolls Royce 20-25 ) and with its lightweight coachwork was capable of 90 mph. A previous owner rebuilt the car as an exact replica of George Lanchester's daughter Nancy's car, using the original factory drawings. The rebuild took 30 years, and was completed in 1995, when the car undertook several Lanchester rallies. This rebuild was comprehensive, including engine, electrics, brakes and so on.
The car now runs superbly and is in regular use. The recorded milage of 55, 000 from new is believed to be correct. A huge collection of invoices, paperwork, factory drawings and photographs is included in the price. £67, 500.
