The Appeal
The Ducati Supersport is a range of sports motorcycles featuring an air-cooled V-twin four stroke engine with desmodromic valves. The series was introduced in 1988 and continued in various guises and iterations right up to 2019. The motorcycle underwent a major update in 1999 with the design revisited by Pierre Terblanche and fuel injection introduced. These post 1999 models were available in either half faired or fully faired form.
This example is a half-faired model which was originally supplied to Japan at the end of 1999. It presents very well in Rosso Red and seems to have been lightly used throughout its Japanese life. The bike is fitted with aftermarket Pipe Werx silencers and has been fully recommissioned and is ready to use and enjoy this summer.

Summary
The Ducati Supersport 900ie was considered a motorcycle worthy of the Supersport name. It is designed with tank-hugging, high input and high output backroad blasting in mind. By modern standards 80bhp doesn’t sound much but it sounds great and is more than enough to have heaps of fun at reassuringly sensible speeds.
This is a fine example in, surely, the right colour for a modern-classic Ducati. It seems to have enjoyed light and sympathetic use throughout its life in Japan. In the UK, it finds itself in the hands of a knowledgeable Ducati enthusiast that has fully recommissioned the bike ready for use and enjoyment. He attests to the bike’s mechanical condition and makes special mention of the new clutch which is, reportedly, smooth, progressive and “unusually quiet” for a Ducati dry clutch. This is a fine Ducati immediately ready to use, enjoy and turn heads on so be sure not to miss this exciting ownership opportunity.
