The Background
The Audi V8 Quattro is a four-door, full size luxury sedan, built by Audi in Germany from 1988 to 1993, as the company’s flagship model.
It was the first car from Audi to use a V8 engine, and also the first Audi to combine a quattro system with an automatic transmission.
The competition model of the Audi V8 won back to back DTM titles in 1990 and 1991, making Audi the first company to win bak-to-back DTM titles.
The History
First registered on 01.08.1990, it was a demo car, for the Tonbridge Audi dealership in Kent, then was bought by the director of that dealership, and after that car ended up at one of the Audi’s mechanics for most of its life. Current owner, bought it in 2008 from the previous keeper who owner the car for a short period of time.
With all the original parts and accessories on it, starts and drives excellent as all the service was carried out on time, by the Audi professionals, being in great condition overall, with only few imperfections highlighted in the photos.
In current ownership, car was well preserved and was being driven only for the car’s maintenance.
The Paperwork
Although this vehicle has quite a high mileage it presents in great condition, as all the service and maintenance was done on time by Audi.
It comes with original sales brochures, workshop manuals in english language(very rare), all the original booklets and manuals, and a fully stamped service book and a valid MOT certificate.
The Interior
The Audi V8 came standard with a range of features like walnut wood trim, grey leather interior, heated seats, automatic climate control system, electric front seats with memory, electronic cruise control, dual power side mirrors with electrically heated defog, power windows, central locking system with heated locks, trip information computer, rear window defogger, interior lighting courtesy delay, premium sound system, woven wool carpets, wiper washer system rear window sun-blind, electrically heated door lock cylinders, and so on.
While everything is fully functional, there are a few things to mention like, the driver seat needs some attention, passenger seat has a small crack in leather, roof lining was replaced, steering wheel was replaced, and the sunroof, while operational, it needs to fiddle a bit with the buttons to get it properly closed. AC is fully working and it was gas converted. Comes with 2 keys.
We can say that the interior is in reasonable good condition for the car’s age and mileage.
The Exterior
Overall, the bodywork of this Audi V8 Quattro, is in very good condition, with only minor imperfections along the boot closing corners.
Pearlescent paintwork is in very good condition, though we should be mentioning that it was partially repainted.
Not being a refurbished car at all according to current owner, this vehicle presents in a very good condition overall.
Comes fitted with all new rain tires.
The Mechanics
This Audi V8, is powered by 3.6 litre V8 petrol engine controlled by a Bosch Motronic fully electronic ECU.
Automatic transmission has three modes S-sport, E-economic and M-manual. It has power assisted steering and it is fitted with a high performance brake system, that included radially ventilated disc brakes front and rear. A Bosch ABS it is also standard for this model.
The Appeal
This car has a galvanised steel body. It was specifically designed to be a top of the range “flagship” car and included a lot of luxury features as standard equipment, including Audi’s Quattro all wheel drive system.
The Audi V8 created a new elevated image for the company, providing a viable alternative to established competitors. In this regard, this car was a cornerstone in developing the history of the Audi marque as it is today.
In it’s remarkable good condition, with all the premium features, paperwork and backed by a rich history, this particular vehicle makes a good collectible classic car.
