The background
The Ginetta marque has been a part of British motor-racing history for over 60 years.
The Ginetta G40 represented the first car to come out of the Ginetta factory since its take over by the LNT group in 2005. It was following in the highly successful tire tracks of Ginetta’s famous race cars, the G20 and G50. After the successes of the racing variants the G40 was introduced in 2010 as a road legal equivalent that stuck to the time tested formula for a great drivers car.
The G40 came with no power steering, no power brakes and no electronic ‘gizmos’. It was produced to give the driver the ultimate connection between the steering wheel and the road. The G40 represented Ginetta wanting to give the modern world a taste of 1958 and the origins of Ginetta itself. When you could don your racing apparel, jump in your motor and drive to the track for a day of thrilling motorsport.

The History
After being brought new in 2016 this G40 was kept for 4 years by its first owner who was a racer and owner of other Ginetta vehicles.
The current owner purchased the car in 2020. During the current ownership the G40 has undergone engine work to bring the factory horsepower up to a far meatier 202 bhp. The car also benefits from new track suspension, new Toyo triple r tyres all round, as well as a striped and rebuilt gearbox.
Under the current owner the car has seen less track use but has been used for a few events at the Wiscombe Hill Climb. The current owner is now looking to concentrate on other motoring events so is looking to move the G40 on to a new home.

The Interior
The interior is in good condition overall. There are some marks to the centre console and gearbox tunnel but the dashboard is in very good condition with only minor wear. All the buttons and switches are accounted for and working as intended. The carpets are in very good condition showing very little signs of wear at all.
The seats are also in very good condition with not marks or tears but the seat belts could benefit from a clean. Overall given the racing nature and pedigree of the Ginetta the interior is in good condition and still looks highly presentable on the road or on the track.

The exterior
The exterior of the Ginetta is fair to good condition for a car with racing history. The paintwork is showing some marks and paint chips in some areas but overall it is still good.
There are some cracks that have developed in the paint due to the fibreglass body work underneath, with the worst of these being around the drivers door handle. Overall the exterior is fairly good condition although it is showing signs of its track use.

The mechanics
The G40 snarls into life with a crisp, metallic exhaust note. The remapped 1.8 litre Zetec engine ticks over smoothly and sounds ready to be driven with gusto.
Lifting the forward hinging bonnet of the Ginetta reveals a very clean and tidy engine with no loose wiring or anything out of place. The work that has been completed on the engine and gearbox has been completed to a high standard and looks fresh and ready for the track.
The Ginetta drives wonderfully, as expected with that added horsepower giving this G40 a real edge over more standard models.
