Highlights
- Very low mileage
- Tasteful specification with many upgrades
- Discreet security upgrades
The Appeal
The Defender’s go-anywhere, rugged dependability needs no introduction. The basic model is brilliant, but with a huge, loyal following there is an army of specialists ready to make them even better. So when you’re looking for a Defender it’s all about individual specification.
This 2.2-litre diesel 2014 Defender 90 Station Wagon starts its pitch with its very low mileage - under 20,000 – and its attractive combination of Fuji white paintwork and black wheels and roof. Then there are the tasteful upgrades from Bowler, Terrafirma and Santorini. It’s all topped off by some clever and discreet security upgrades designed to ensure the new owner hangs onto this stylish Defender.
The History and Paperwork
- MOT to November 2023 with no advisories
- 3 owners
- Full service history – Land Rover & specialists
- Large history file
- MOT history supports low mileage
The Interior
- Bowler upgrades including gear levers and quick release Momo wheel
- Skytag GPS Tracker
- Unmarked headlining
- Removable rear seats
- White stitched leather dash top
- Heated part-leather seats
- Two keys and remote Land Rover fobs
The tasteful changes to this Defender’s interior enhance what already makes it great – its fundamentally utilitarian nature. There are nods to comfort in the heated and high-backed, part-leather seats, but the Bowler gear shifters and Momo wheel hint at purpose and capability. An aftermarket radio is also fitted.
The interior reflects this 90’s low mileage: the front and rear door trims are unscuffed, the leather-topped dashboard is unmarked, as is the headlining. The removable rear seats are a handy addition and in good, unmarked condition.
A Skytag GPS Tracker as well as Optimill rear camera, steering wheel boss and billet hinges provide enhanced security for this desirable Defender.
The Exterior
- Showing 19,613 miles
- Fuji White paintwork
- Santorini black roof, grill and air intake
- Bowler black 18 inch alloy wheels
- Bowler sump guard, rock sliders, nudge bar & rear NAS step
- Goodyear All Terrain tyres
- Halo LED headlamps
The style of this Defender kicks off with the simple combination of white bodywork and subtle black highlights. It is carried through by details like the Bowler alloys, sump guard, nudge bar and rear step, those Halo LED headlamps and the neat Santorini grill and air intakes.
The bodywork reflects the low mileage with no obvious defects shown in the photographs. Defenders can, by their nature, be prone to damage but this one appears to have survived very well. A tow bar is fitted.
The seller states that the Defender has had wax oil applied and injected, which should help keep this stylish example looking good for years to come.
The Mechanics
- 2.2-litre diesel engine
- 6-speed manual gearbox
- Terrafirma shock absorbers and springs
- Powerflex bushes
The Ford Duratorq diesel engine delivers a useful 122 bhp, helping this Defender deliver on its promise as a multi-purpose family vehicle. The very low mileage is supported by the history file, which includes invoices from Land Rover main dealers and specialists. It was last serviced in January 2022 including all fluids. According to invoices an 85-point check was carried out at the same time. In November 2022 the gearbox output shaft was replaced.
Alongside the cosmetic upgrades, the Defender benefits from Terrafirma shock absorbers and springs and Powerflex bushes. AP Brake Sport brake callipers finished in bright red add extra stopping power and a dash of colour to the exterior.
Summary
There are plenty of Defenders on the market but few with the low mileage and tasteful style and upgrades of this 2014 model. Decent security features, a thick history file and wax injection indicate that this Defender has been cared for.
Whether you want a multi-purpose family vehicle or a go-anywhere off-roader, this Land Rover seems an enticing prospect.
