The Appeal
Built in 2014, this Defender represents the final iteration of the classic version of Land Rover’s perennial model before it ceased production. As such it’s the most modern mechanicals that you’ll find in a factory built classic Defender, making it amongst the most usable.
The current owner is fastidious about keeping his vehicles in the best possible condition and so it’s in beautiful condition. One example of his attention to detail is the replacement of the exterior bolts with stainless steel items as he didn’t like the surface corrosion on the standard items.
It’s also been Waxloyed underneath and treated to a £500 valet. The result is a modern Defender in a condition that is surely amongst the very best available and, if recent trends continue, one which could be a shrewd investment. If you want the classic Defender experience without too much getting your hands dirty, then get your bid in now.

The Interior
- Black and red leather seats
- Red stitched leather covered dashboard
- Alcantara headlining
The cabin of the later Defenders is a far cry from the utilitarian sparsity of early Land Rovers. This one comes lavishly equipped with an eye catching black and red colour scheme, a leather covered dashboard and Alcantara headlining.
At some stage this Defender has received the attention of TMD tuning whose insignia appears on the dials and it’s unclear as to exactly how it left the factory originally but the combined effect of Land Rover of TMD has been to create a very upmarket feel.
The Momo steering wheel is one item that certainly isn’t factory standard and has suffered some wear to the usual resting place of the driver’s thumbs, though it could easily be swapped again. Otherwise there is little to show in terms of patina to the rest of the cabin, the only blemish being a nick to the leather on the rear of the passenger seat.
Everything works as it should, including the air conditioning, and the Alpine Bluetooth stereo provides the necessary punch to make itself heard. In the rear, a new rubber mat helps to keep it all looking smart.
The Exterior
- Finished in Fuji white
- Contrasting black roof and bonnet
- LED auxiliary and rear lights
When the seller was looking for a Defender back in 2018, this was the only example on the market in white and it stood out for him as it was a refreshing change from the more usual shades of green and grey.
It remains very striking today and has been kept in tip top condition. It’s been stored under a cover and has never done any serious off-roading in the current owner’s hands, so the paintwork is still in excellent condition and the underside, which received a coat of Waxoyl last year, is as clean as you’re ever likely to find.
The replacement of the exterior bolts with stainless steel items avoids the kind of surface corrosion that often develops but the owner wasn’t able to locate them for the aftermarket side steps and so the bolts do show a little, but you have to be really looking (and quite picky) to notice.
The wheels are in pristine condition and wear a chunky set of tyres. The fronts are nearing needing replacement as the tread is getting a little low but the rears and spare have plenty of tread remaining.
The Mechanics
- Tuned 2.2 litre diesel engine
- Six speed gearbox
- Very quick off the mark
While the identity of the tuning kit is lost in the mists of time, the owner reports that there is no mistaking that the engine has been breathed on, with off the line performance in particular being a surprise to most other motorists.
Apart from the additional grunt, it’s Land Rover Defender as usual which is to say more road noise than you’ll experience in other cars but friendly greetings from other owners. On the road, the seller informs us that it drives exactly as it should with no unusual noises. In all, it’s ready to go.
Summary
A well specified and very well cared for late model Defender which is ready for the next owner to enjoy.
