The Appeal
The DBS Volante was unveiled in March 2009, as the soft top convertible version of the fixed-head coupé released the previous year. This beautiful example boasts a lovely specification, which includes a Bang & Olufsen sound system, full leather interior, carbon trim pack. It is finished in the Storm Black, which reveals a hint of Blackberry Red Metallic Fleck in direct sunlight.
With its sharp black paintwork and timeless styling, this DBS Volante cuts a rakish figure as it prowls the streets. The paintwork is in fantastic condition, as is the interior, making this a great car to be seen in.
Accompanied by an extensive history file, this Aston Martin has clearly been well maintained. It has benefitted from being seamlessly under Aston Martin Scheduled Servicing & Extended Warranty, and is currently still under an extended Aston Martin warranty until 18th November 2022 thus allowing the new owner the option to continue to extend if they so wish, which is a rare and valuable privilege for a car of this age.

Neatly stitched leather swathes the interior of this DBS Volante, reminding its occupants that this is a true luxury vehicle. Continuing from the seats onto the centre console, dashboard and door cards, the leather is in excellent condition throughout, with only a slight graze on the driver’s bolster to remind us that this car has indeed been driven, but the vendor tells us this will be repaired before the auction ends. The seats are supportive and proudly feature DBS motifs, meanwhile a wind deflector is also provided.
The driver is presented with an uncluttered instrument cluster and discreet steering wheel buttons for mobile phone connectivity and cruise control. Automatic gearbox controls can be found on the dashboard and gears can also be selected via the paddles behind the steering wheel.
To the rear, the boot is spacious, clean and tidy. It features a pair of leather loops which hold in place a neatly furled umbrella. There is a warning triangle and a first aid kit which is stored in a leather pouch embossed with the Aston Martin winged logo.
The Exterior
- Beautiful Storm Black paintwork
- 20 inch alloys with Pirelli P Zero tyres
- Carbon-fibre trim in excellent condition
The Volante’s party piece is its folding roof, which can be raised and lowered while driving at speeds of up to 30 mph. The fabric of the roof appears to be clean and tight and it features a heated rear window.
Moving on to the car’s paintwork, this appears to be in excellent condition, with no reported chips, scratches or blemishes. The gloss black finish gives the car a purposeful presence. And the exterior trim and badges are similarly excellent. It benefits from discreet carbon fibre trim on the front and rear bumpers, for that extra sporting flair. There is some slight crazing reported on the driver's side headlamp, which is not unusual.
The 20 inch 'Diamond Cut' alloy wheels are free from scratches and presented in excellent condition, wearing Pirelli P Zero tyres which are said to retain good tread. And the underside of the vehicle is reportedly undamaged, with no reported corrosion.
The Mechanics
- 5.9 litre V12 engine produces 510 bhp
- Extensive service history
- No reported mechanical issues
The 5.9 litre V12 engine at the heart of this Aston Martin sends 510 bhp to the rear wheels via an automatic transmission, which also benefits from paddle shifters on the steering wheel. It is an amazing feat of engineering, and can reach a top speed of 191 mph.
With an extensive history file, this DBS has been fastidiously maintained by its previous and current owners, who have ensured that it has always been covered by an Aston Martin warranty for peace of mind. The accompanying service book contains a reassuring number of Aston Martin main dealer stamps.
The vendor tells us that the car has just had a full differential oil service at an Aston Martin service centre.

Summary
In all, this appears to be an extremely well presented DBS Volante. With its folding roof and powerful V12 engine, it represents everything you could wish for in a grand tourer.
The excellent service record will give the next owner of this DBS confidence and we’re sure they’ll enjoy the rumble of that 510 bhp V12 when their right foot goes down. This is the kind of car you’ll be proud to be seen in, and won’t look out of place in the smartest of venues.
