The Rover Company (originator of the Land Rover marque) was experimenting with a larger model than the Land Rover Series in 1951, when the Rover P4-based two-wheel-drive "Road Rover" project was developed by Gordon Bashford. This was shelved in 1958 and the idea lay dormant until 1966, when engineers Spen King and Bashford set to work on a new model.

The Range Rover was launched in 1970. In the early 1970s, the Musée du Louvre in Paris exhibited a Range Rover as an "exemplary work of industrial design”.

4 owners from new, the current owner purchased the vehicle 8 years ago as his daughters winter wedding vehicle. There's lots of history and paperwork included.

The seller also tells us the CAT N was due only to vandalism to the paintwork, windscreen and tyres.

The correct V5 is present and the car has a valid MOT until September 2022. Various paperwork is included detailing the list of options on the vehicle along with receipts for past work carried out.

Please note, the current private reg plate "THL 528" is not included in the sale.

The interior is as spacious as it is classy with navy and cream leather set off against piano black trims. It has been well used however and is not in show condition. It has some signs of general wear, including some minor damage from jamming the seat belt against the driver’s door card. Everything works as it should though, and the controls and buttons have minimal wear for the age and mileage of the car.

It’s a very well-optioned vehicle with just about everything you can think of, including screens in the headrests, a hybrid TV and navigation centre and a wireless off-road camera that can be placed outside the vehicle, displaying its video feed on the dashboard screen. The car also comes with climate controlled front seats, heated rear seats and passenger wireless remote with headphone output and lots more.

A Logic 7, 14 speaker Hi-Fi surround sound system is fitted along with a Homelink garage door opener, cruise control, and intelligent terrain recognition software. Please see the images for the full list - it’s fully loaded! 

The exterior is white with silver/grey trims and chrome mirrors. The paint work is presentable with some slight rust in the door jams that has been painted over.

Overall the car could benefit from small cosmetic attention but nothing serious. It has had some work done to erase the vandalism, including striping the full bonnet, respraying and a new windscreen which has all been done to a high standard.

Wheels are of the 20” alloy variety and are wrapped in four new RoyalBlack tyres.

Overall this Range Rover is mechanically sound and the supercharged V8 naturally sounds great.

The MOT test was passed the day before we viewed the car a while ago and although there are a few advisories, including some brake pipe and lower arm corrosion, along with a couple of bushings that are not perfect, there are no major faults.

A brand new battery was fitted for the MOT as well as four new tyres. This particular Range Rover is in really decent condition for the miles covered and with some slight TLC could be brought back to its best with little effort.   

A spacious, powerful and comfortable luxury SUV with myriad optional extras coupled with a very high towing capacity. 

It’s an incredibly capable car that looks great and drives well.
