THE APPEAL
Owning Porches can be addictive, and you could say the Boxster is the gateway to it all. Setting levels of expectation in build quality and engineering that make it difficult to be satisfied with anything else.
What better way to start that addiction than to own a Boxster? These cars are affordable and offer just as much fun as a top of the range model costing ten times the price. This 987-generation example was manufactured in 2007 but looks and drives like a new car having only done a warranted 57200 miles in that time.
It's a rear-wheel drive rear mid-engine 2-door roadster with 2 seats and packed full of fun. With 242 BHP, the naturally aspirated 2.7 Litre 24v Flat 6 petrol engine that accelerates this Boxster to 62 mph in 6.1 seconds and on to a maximum speed of 160 mph.
It’s not too bad on fuel either achieving up to 30.1 mpg on average and can travel 423 miles before requiring a refill of its 64-litre capacity fuel tank. This 5-speed automatic gearbox version is a real eye catcher and has a lovely deep engine tone emitting from the exhaust.

THE HISTORY AND PAPERWORK
- Service history with 5 stamps
- V5 present
- MOT
- Warranted 57200 miles
The seller originally bought this Boxster from a main dealer in Scotland and had a great road trip bringing it back to County Down in Northern Ireland where it now resides.
The car has a sound service record at two-year intervals and in the current vendors ownership it has been fully serviced by a local garage who forgot to get their rubber stamp out and mark the service book.
THE INTERIOR
- Heater glass rear window
- 6 CD autochanger in the boot
- Automatic climate control
- Electro-mechanical hood and trunk release
- Full tan leather
- Alarm, Immobiliser
- On board computer
- Seat height adjustment,
- Air bags front and side
- Adjustable steering column/wheel
Cars of this build quality and price generally come with a huge amount of kit. This model is no exception and include heated Seats, auto dimming interior/exterior Mirrors and rain sensors.
There is a detachable glass wind deflector between the seats to the rear to help keep hair out of your eyes when cruising around the countryside. There is also remote central locking and front electric windows.

We saw some slight wear to the air vent on the right drivers’ side, it looks like it could just be makeup but we didn’t try to remove it to see. The drivers side seat bolster edge shows the usual signs of leather crease but there is no cracking and would be improved with leather cleaner.
Apart from those small details the cabin is a lovely place to be and has a real feeling of build quality and attention to detail you would expect from a company held in such high regard.
THE EXTERIOR
- Original alloy wheels - 17in sport classic design
- Flow-optimised air intake system with vents to the side
- Rear parking sensors
- Electric side mirrors
- Sleek aerodynamic looks
With its focused chassis, sleek aerodynamic body, and lively nature it can be said the Boxster is one of the best-driving sports cars on the road. In our short drive it gave nothing but pure driving pleasure. This low mileage, 987 model Boxster has the look of the Carrera GT and all the fun, for a fraction of the price.
THE MECHANICALS
- Triptronic S
- 2.7 naturally aspirated 6-cylinder engine
- Vented discs for extra braking efficiency
- Multi-link rear suspension
- Smooth 5 speed automatic gearbox
- Anti-lock brakes
- Traction control
As you scroll down to the images you might be aware of a few omissions. There are no images of the fabulous 2.7 mid placed engine. This has come about because the current vendor has never had the need to work on or view the ultra-reliable engine.
He had no tools to open the cover and neither did we on the test drive. The only people to see the engine are the garage workers who service it biannually, mainly from underneath. In between services there has been no need to open the panels and all we could get access to are the filler caps in the boot where oil and water can be added.

An omission we agree but also a testament to the build quality and reliability for these vehicles. It’s not often you can run a car and have no idea what the engine looks like.
SUMMARY
This Porsche Boxster is a great luxury sports car.
For driving appeal, this roadster is one of the best cars in the class, thanks to its punchy engines, scorching acceleration, and athletic handling.
It’s ride, refinement and enhanced appearance combined with the solid chassis make it easily one of the finest roadsters money can buy and they are still very affordable. For now.
