The current owner and Porsche fan (from Bristol), purchased this 911 in April 2022 from Porsche dealer, Portiacraft, in London, and has enjoyed it as a second car over the last year, covering around 5,000 miles. It replaced a Boxster which he ran for four years and is one of four cars at home, so in his own words; “life moves on and it it is now time to downsize both the house and cars!”.
THE INTERIOR
- Elegantly styled dash and instrumentation
- Electrically adjustable heated seats
- Cruise control, climate control, PASM and Sports Chrono’
- Presentable grey leather upholstery and trim
- Replacement Pioneer head unit / BOSE sound system
This comfortable cabin is stylish, yet sporty and offers all the creature comforts you could want. it features the classic five-dials instrumentation layout and steering wheel mounted Tiptronic thumb switches.
All the switchgear is said to function as it should with no reported faults. The steering wheel, auto-gear lever and handbrake are in good condition and the aluminium details and door trims are nice and presentable.
The leather upholstery is also in good order throughout with minimal wear evident, although there are a few scuffs to the rear of the driver’s seat. The rear ’occasional’ seats fold to provide handy luggage space and the complimentary grey carpeting is in good order and has clean Porsche floor mats in-situ.
The original sound system has been replaced with a Pioneer head unit fitted by Portiacraft in April 2022 and has full Apple Car Play/Android Auto functions and bluetooth connectivity. The original is included.
Up front, the deep boot space is a decent size, is in excellent condition and contains a wind deflector and warning triangle.
THE EXTERIOR
- Stunning Meteor Grey metallic paintwork
- Presentable hood and rear heated screen
- Electrically operated rear spoiler
- Rear parking sensors
- Refurbished wheels and new centre caps in 2022
Retaining all the right 911 curves, this cabriolet is in excellent condition externally, and, as mentioned, looks the business in it’s coat of Meteor Grey paintwork. The smooth minimalistic body is straight with no dents or dings and the paint is even and glossy with just a few expected minor chips.
The unmistakable headlights are of the Bi-Xenon variety and are in great condition, as are the rear lights, mirrors and badges.
The slick-folding soft top is in good order with no noticeable rips or tears, and usefully, can be deployed at speeds of up to 31 mph.
A central brake light, parking sensors and quad exhausts take up the rear and newly refurbished 19” alloys, with virtually new Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, should keep this Porsche happily planted to the road.
Peering underneath, the sills and structure look sound and the plastic protection trim looks fine.
THE MECHANICS
- 3.8-litre normally-aspirated flat-six
- 5-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission
- Recent maintenance
The engine compartment is presented as you would hope and houses the impressive water-cooled 3,824 cc flat-six engine which produces 355 bhp @ 6,600 rpm, and will cover 0-60 mph in around five seconds.
Service stamps and invoices from Porsche specialists confirm a consistent regime of maintenance works throughout this cars life with the most recent service being carried out in April 2022, just 4,937 miles ago.
To keep the car running sweetly, new spark plugs, coils and heat shields were fitted by Porsche specialists, Cameron Sports Cars in January 2023 (see photo of invoice).
The variable-ratio steering and adjustable suspension is said to be precise and Porsche four-pot callipers and ventilated, cross-drilled brakes, should pull you up confidently.
Happily, parts for the 911 are readily available and affordable and there are plenty of enthusiastic Porsche workshops to look after you.
The owner assures us that the car “runs and drives perfectly and starts first time, warm or cold” with “no faults or warning lights”.
SUMMARY
Sublime looks, performance and build quality make the 911 a natural choice. The complete package is rarely achieved by some manufacturers, but the enduring 911, and in particular, the 997 generation, appears to embody all the right attributes.
This beautiful example is ready and waiting for it’s next custodian, and with summer just around the corner, the option of going topless with that intoxicating flat-six sound track should offer pure driving pleasure.
