The Appeal
The Bentley Continental GT was a car that was firmly in the Bentley tradition: stylish, understated and delivering significant unruffled performance. When the open top version arrived in autumn 2006 it turned up the style, offering the essence of Monaco or Monte Carlo even when it was miles from those style hot spots.
The GTC has an electric convertible roof engineered by Karmann in Germany that cleverly retains the svelte lines of the coupe with a full pillarless design. It uses the super-smooth W12 6litre engine of the coupe and delivers equally scintillating performance.
This GTC was one of the first off the production line when it was registered in September 2006. Finished in a neat combination of black paintwork with lovely Crème leather interior, it has low owners, a very low mileage and has just been serviced and inspected by the Vendor. It will be sold with a full 12 months MOT and its private plate.
The Bentley GTC is a car with few equals, a big convertible with thumping W12 performance. It currently represents very good value in the market and this one looks to have been well looked after.
The History And Paperwork
- 12 months MOT with no advisories
- Two refurbished keys
- Original leather bound handbook
- HPI checked
- Just been inspected and serviced (There will be a service invoice from LEWMARK autos before the auction starts)
- The vendor is attempting to retrieve the service history but with no guarantees
The Interior
- Crème leather interior with steering wheel and dashboard highlights
- Electric and heated front seats
- Small rear seats
- Excellent veneers, carpets and switchgear
- Hood headlining in generally very good condition
With the interior of the Continental GT and GTC Bentley pulled off the remarkable trick of blending tradition with technology. There are plenty of longstanding Bentley touchpoints in the beautiful interior of this GTC, like those chrome organ pull vents and acres of wood and leather, but it is nicely blended with more modern features like a central infotainment system.
This GTC contrasts the black paintwork with a light Crème leather interior. The light leather finish extends to the steering wheel and dashboard to give this early GTC a particularly bespoke feel. As you would expect there are a lot of luxury features including electric and heated seats, cruise control and satnav.
The low mileage of this 17 year old car is reflected in the excellent condition of the interior. There are some signs of age in the creases on the driver’s seat, that likely may respond well to some hide feed. Elsewhere the interior is unmarked save for a very small area of delamination on the veneer surrounding the infotainment screen.
The Seller tells us that everything works as it should in the car.
The Exterior
- Black paintwork in very good condition
- Refurbished 20inch alloy wheels with good quality tyres
- Roof in very good condition, indicating low mileage
The GTC is a very purposeful car and the black colour particularly suits it. It underplays the car’s distinctive presence and contrasts with the attractive cream interior.
The paintwork is generally in very good condition, with no visible dings or dents to the bodywork in the photos or other signs of age, such as chips on the door edges. There are some stone chips on the front of the car, which are unfortunately more visible on a black car, but these may respond to the attentions of a good paint chip specialist. Elsewhere there is a small chip on the nearside rear arch.
The vast convertible roof on this car is in very good condition, indicative of the car’s low mileage and owners.
The Seller has just refurbished the attractive 20inch alloy wheels with two new rear tyres.
The Mechanics
- Sophisticated W12 6litre twin turbo engine developing 552bhp
- 7spd ‘tiptronic’ automatic gearbox
- Car has just been inspected and serviced by Seller’s workshop
- Just 41,044 miles
Since the early days of Bentley, the firm has always been about luxury and understatement, back by the sort of power that immediately silences occupants. The 6litre W12 engine at the heart of this Bentley fits right into that tradition and is a technological work of art. A bank of four rows of three cylinders joined together it aims for exceptional smoothness and, with twin turbos installed, a very wide power band.
The 552bhp that this engine delivers is matched to an equally smooth 7spd automatic gearbox with Tiptronic semi-automatic function.
The low mileage of this car is supported by a check through its MOT history. That indicates that the car has covered less than 4,000 miles since 2018. The Seller tells us that the car’s service history has been misplaced but he is in the process of retrieving this. It has just been fully inspected and serviced by his local workshop.
There are two Bentley keys, which the Seller has just had refurbished. The car’s original Bentley leather bound handbook is included in the sale.
The car will be sold with a full MOT with no advisories.
Summary
The Bentley GTC is a car with few equals. Svelte, luxurious yet extremely quick, it is the statement car that is also relaxing to drive and comfortable for four people.
This GTC is one of the first off the production line and in a particularly appealing colour combination. The low mileage and low owners are reflected in the general condition, just a few very minor marks indicating the age of the car. These great value cars look like a very attractive indulgence.
